Home description

Set just off the road,it is a 3 bedroomed cosy apartment, with a breakfast balcony overlooking the hills.there is a large sunny living room, with a dining table and chairs. A well equipped kitchen,two very spacious well furnished bedrooms with double beds, and another bedroom with two single beds nice views, and well furnished., All recently re-decorated, a complete bathroom with bath and shower, there is a welcoming table in the foyer with lots of local info about walks tours, places of interests and list local bars restaurantsand shops.newly added is a new 80 sq metre sun terrace with , sun loungers, dining table and barbecue accesssible through sliding patio doors..The apartment is 4 mins drive from lousa, which is famous in portugal for its stunning scenery all around . overlooking lousa is the trevim hill(995metres high), there are lots of old restored villages to wander round, and in the valley is a castle ruin with the famous burgo restaurant, with picnic areasaround,and a natural swimming pool..its very peaceful all around,and there is great trails for walking and exploring from just outside the apartment.coimbra city is 35 mins drive away which has lots of historical buildings to visit there is the mondego river running through coimbra, with boats and cruisers on , and nice bar/restaurants along the river.in summer lots of towns in the area have lots of river beaches ,which are very popular for swimming boating beach games and bars,the apartment is set in a great position for visiting all the attractions in central portugal, also 25 mins away is the famous conimbriga roman site, which is amazing.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region

The apartment is set just a little way up the hill from lousa town,there is lovely scenery all round,lots of views trails, forests,pinic spots and river beachs.it is warm all summer and very warm in july august,nights in the summer are very pleasent,and lousa as lots of entertainment and restaurants and outdoor bars.coimbra near by is very historic and now has 2 very large new shopping malls with lots of shops and restaurants cinemas, ten pin bowling., There are various castles near by tomar castle is well worth a visit..There is open air swimming pools in lousa, manmade river beachs with swimming, canoe hire, and 4x4 tours in the hills,where there is old restored villages, well worth a look,there is horse riding near by, ten pin bowling, go karting, and for the adventurers para glyding.

Coimbra / Lousa area

The castle in lousa is probarly set in the best location ever , its 5 mins drive up the hill,it is set at the start of the valley, there is a old monestry retreat there two small chapels, a lovely restaurent and a pool.there is a cafe/bar/shop7, 3 mins from the apartment which is very friendly,prepares meals if you want,and the shop as all your needs. there is lots of walks in the surrounding countryside, you can hire bikes in lousa,there is 4x4 tours available, 25mins drive away is a grand roman city site that takes all day to explore.,coimbra city is very historic,and a must to vist,lots to see, and now with 2 huge shopping centres,for the more adventurous there is canoeing and paraglyding near by,also there is in the summer lots of river/beachs with bars and swimming.in lousa all summer there is lots of entertainment at night,and lots of restaurants.now open in coimbra is two very big shopping malls with all the famous names shops, lots of restaurants, and multi screen cinemas.there is a 9 hole big golf course in coimbra.new for 2009 nearby is a zoo opening with a adventure playground attached.

How to get there

From porto or lisbon airport,take a1 to junction 12, drive to coimbra,and look for n17 to lousa, once in lousa, follow road up to vale de maceira,past the fonte cafe, and our apartment is on the right.the owners will be there to welcome you and give you the keys,the apartment is easily enough to find and is in a great central position for viewing all the local tourists attractions, if you dont want to drive very much, there is a local bus at the top of the drive into lousa or coimbra., or you can walk 10 mins to the local train station which will take you into coimbra.

We have tried to make the apartment home from home, with soft furnishing nice decor, warming colours,polished floors. there are also reading books, games,cds, videos,puzzles, magazines,and a desk with all local info. about what sites to visit, things you can do, and info of what attractions are on at the moment,the kitchen is fully equipped,and just added is a washing machine. the owners also leave for your arrival a welcoming food and drink pack with freah bread rollsfor you to enjoy after your travelling.All bedrooms are well decorated with lots of wardrobe spaces drawers and , and there are lovely scenic views from all the windows.

There is ample parking at the front . from the living room there is access to a balcony with table and chairs, to enjoy the morning sun, and to sit and admire the view while you relax.NEW for 2008 which is accessible from thepatio doors in the back bedroom is a 75 sq mt, sun terrace with a wall all around for privacy, great views, sun loungers, barbecue, table chairs, and lots of space.its very peaceful all around, and we are sure you will enjoy.now in lousa is a fully equipped sports centre, and near by is ten pin bowling, go karts, and para glyding, and coimbra has two large cinema complexes. all in all lots of family entertainment. all around. If you drive 35 mins to the coast there are various seaside resorts with lovely sunny beaches, sand dunes, boating pools, sun loungers to hire, amusements, local fish to buy, and guaranteed sunshine temperatures during the summer vary from 28c to 40c .

You will be amazed by the incredible scenery around,everyday you can drive for miles in the hills and see incredible views, there is lots to do and see, you can hire bikes in town, there is a huge outdoor swimming oasis near by, and lots of river beaches with bars,lots of castles and churches around too.we have tried to leave as much info as possible on the desk for you to view.

Conditions

The only booking condition is to send a 30%deposit, so we can hold the apartment for you, bookings taken from 3 nights up to 2 months, depending on your say.the owners are very relaxed about time of arrivals., and will help you with anything you need to know.

from bob kowski. I enjoyed a little over a week of Portuguese countryside relaxation. The location is great. The apartment was great and the nearby town was cool. One of the best features though is the people...and I don't mean the Portuguese people (though they're super too). When you stay here the people who own/operate the place are not only a fantastic resource for where to go/what to do, but they're the kind of folks you'd want to go out and do things with. Definitely a must for those that are traveling outside the normal yours bob
