Home description
Originally built in 1836,Bois Blanc was a Cognac producer's house and is set, away from busy roads, in the Grand Champagne region of the Cognac vineyards. It is now owned by an English couple who are renovating the main house and barns. There are no immediate neighbours and the cottage, which is set in its own gardens, is not overlooked by the owners who live in the main house. The large pool has just been completed in August 2007. The cottage has been furnished to a very high standard - take a look at the photos or visit our website.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region
In 15 mins you can be in the centre of Cognac town. In 45 mins you can be sitting in the sun on miles of sandy beaches or discovering a secluded cove. We are 50 mins from the cathedral city of Angouleme with a fantastic choice of restaurants in the old quarter, and just over an hour from Bordeaux - wonderful for shopping and restaurants (and of course the wine). You can explore the Gironde estuary, the beaches around Royan, La Palmyre and the Cote Sauvage. The Ile de Ré and the Ile d'Oleron are close enough to make a day trip. All the beaches are sandy and it's easy to find secluded spots.
Cognac / Champagne, Cognac area
All the Cognac houses provide excellent tours and tastings throughout the summer. Cognac has many festivals - the most famous of which is the Blues Passion held annually in July.
If you have an interest in cognac, we can arrange visits to some of the smaller producers as well as the larger cognac houses. If you are visiting over the November to January period, there would be the opportunity to see the distillation process carried out on traditional stills. Please email us if you want us to arrange this for you or to put together a cognac lover's package including lots of visits and tastings.
Cognac has lots of festivals and events throughout the year. Contact us if you want to know if anything is going on when you visit. We are always happy to answer your questions.

Further details indoors: 2 bedroomed cottage is fitted to an exceptionally high standard. The kitchen with German appliances and black granite work surfaces was imported from Germany, the travertine floors from Italy and the bedding from London - the Cottage, with 12x6 pool, is now ready to let for it's first summer! An ideal place to really escape from the outside world. The whole living area is open plan, simply decorated with a modern feel and original artwork. There is a Mac mini music and DVD system with a variety of DVDs and pre-loaded music. There are games, books and an Ipod dock on request. The cottage has underfloor heating throughout, which makes it suitable for renting all year round. We provide a welcome pack including your first 4 course evening meal.
Further details outdoors: The pool is 12 x 6 metres with the addition of large steps (4x4m) which are an ideal place for sitting and reading while your partner does lengths of the pool! In the overall gardens we have created a separate area for the cottage. Called the 'moon garden' because of the circular and crescent shapes used in the design, the garden is an ideal place to sunbathe, read, escape to and of course, to star gaze! The owners use the pool occasionally and discretely (for example if you have gone to the beach for the day). The cottage has 2 private terraces - North and South so there is usually a choice of sunshine or shade (if the sun's out of course!). There is an outdoor dining table and chairs and 2 sun loungers.
Further details
There is no wheelchair access as the paths to the cottage cross the gardens. However, there is a downstairs bedroom and the shower room / toilet is on the ground floor. Access to the pool is gradual by very large steps but the path to access the pool area is uneven. Please be aware that the mezzanine area could be dangerous for small children and toddlers. We can supply a cot, bedding and highchair on request.
