The Surat Thani Province region
When you fly over Koh Samui upon arrival you will see that it takes its place in a ribbon of islands including Koh Phangan ( home to the famous Full Moon parties!), the Anthong National Park and Koh Tao. Guests can enjoy a fabulous day trip to any of these islands for snorkeling, diving, kayaking, sightseeing and eating at local restaurants.
The climate is tropical, mostly 30 C, with gentle sea breezes. The rainy season is short and pre Christmas.
Samui itself is a small island where nothing is further that 30 mins away by jeep. You can go elephant trekking, take a jungle adventure or explore the many beautiful beaches around the island. Other popular sights include the Big Buddha, the Muslim fishing village, Grandfather/ Grandmother rocks, waterfalls and the many Watts (temples).
Nearby Nathon, capital of the island, is great for local shopping, markets, restaurants and bars. A visit to the Sunset bar, followed by sampling the food stalls at the ferry piers is a must. Chaweng is the most developed tourist beach on the island, a hotspot for night life, with shops, bars and restaurants of every description and price range. Closer to home we recommend Bophut Fisherman's village and Maenam for ATMS, shops, restaurants and bars.
For self caterers there is even a huge Tesco/Lotus near Chaweng with a multiplex cinema and Bowling Ally.
10 mins down the road is a truly world class 18 hole, 6000m golf course with a fabulous club house and views to die for. The restaurant is open to all.
Coconut River is a unique development. It is well named with soaring coconut palms giving some shade to the beautiful tropical garden which lies beneath the palms and embraces the eight houses of Coconut River and its sparkling swimming pool. The pool incorporates a Jacuzzi and a shallower section for those less confident in the water. Our guests love the pool, garden and sea views and often refer to it as a hidden treasure. Beautiful in sunlight, drenched by tropical rain or illuminated by house lights in the evening, Coconut River is a tranquil delight.
Bang Por beach, always visible from Bahn Nam Soey, is 3.5 Km long and remains essentially an unspoilt local beach. As you stroll along it or sunbathe you will be able to watch fishermen work the edge of the reef or see them catch squid at night with their lamps and spears. The beautiful Anthong National Park shimmers in the distance and Koh Phangan beckons across the bay. It is a very safe beach and can provide some absorbing snorkelling. You will find many local restaurants within easy walking distance where you can dine at the water's edge at very modest prices.
Don't forget to have a massage on the terrace!

"Quite a cosy holiday"
We enjoyed Bahn Nam Soey very much - stayed there with two families. Very close to sea, calm, peaceful, kids really enjoyed the pool. On the minus side - to get to whichever town on the island, You need to use local transport (song thaew or cab), which in the evenings become much more expencive and You need to bargain hard. But all in all a perfect spot for a relaxing family holiday.

"A wonderful relaxing fun holiday."
A lovely property in an idyllic setting almost on the stunning beach. Beautifully maintained. Although away from the main action of the island it is within easy walking distance of many excellent restaurants and a few shops. No need to hire a car as buses and taxis are frequent and inexpensive - just remember to agree a price before you get in! Could not think of a better way to spend the evening than walking along a beautiful beach at sunset and eating a wonderful fresh seafood meal right on the beach for amazing prices! Follow this with a coffee or a drink at The Monkey Bar on the way back and the evening is complete! (However if you are a wine lover you may be disappointed as it is extremely expensive and little choice). Loads of trips available on the island, but recommend you go to a tourist office to book as phoning can be tricky and expensive - especially if the organisers speak little English. Our teenagers had plenty to do- quad biking, zip wiring, kayaking, snorkeling, boat trips and we all loved swimming with the fish and feeding them by hand!. Highly recommend taking a longtail boat off the south of the island (Mr Mhoo) which is much more authentic and relaxing than the mad scramble of tourists visiting the marine park on the big speed boats in the north! Bophut Fishing Village is nearby and great fun, especially on a Friday night when it is closed to traffic. Avoid the aquarium and the monkey theatre - both overpriced and very poor - especially if you don't like seeing animals in cages! All in all a great holiday in a lovely place with really friendly people. All the family scored it 10/10.

This was an amazing find on the Internet - having looked for somewhere close to the beach and within a very quiet setting Bahn Nam Soey met our every requirement. From the beginning, the owners were very helpful and honest in their descriptions of the house, facilities and surroundings. The setting is truly lovely, and the house very well equipped - a real home from home. We enjoyed the outdoor living on the verandah and the upstairs balcony, pool and beach. We took advantage of the Thai massages, and delivery of local foods - including the German breakfasts! Would highly recommend Angela's for fresh breads, pastries and amazing home cooked food including pies and sausage rolls! The house is superbly placed just a few yards from an almost deserted beach - the sea warm even at 7am! The pool is really well kept and coolin, with plenty of chairs and loungers - although in our time there we only shared the pool twice with another family. It was like having a private pool. It was a wonderful holiday - and enjoyed so much that we would like to buy one of the other properties!

"Relaxing enjoyable stay"
Sitting in the airport after having a lovely stay at the villa, from the moment we arrived and met Lek and Ian who made us feel so welcome even though we had arrived early. The villa was spotlessly clean and very spacious for me and my husband and 2 teenage daughters, the grounds staff were very friendly and were constantly cleaning up fallen leaves and watering plants. Whislt at the villa we made good use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi a good quiet place to chill out on a hot afternoon. Although the sea was a bit rocky it was still nice to have a walk along the quiet beach and enjoy the beautifull scenery. Local Thai restaurants were very friendly especially the Thai lady across the road who also had free WiFi available and we would highly recommend going there to sample her delicious food, there are also a few more about 5 min walking distance if you turn right when leaving coconut river, also very good food with reasonable prices. Really enjoyed our stay here and will be recommending it to friends. Look forward to many more holidays at the villa. Thank you Brian and Gill x

"A Touch Of Paradise"
We absolutely loved our stay here, so much so that we would have been more than happy to stay for months! It was a real home away from home. Brian and Gill were wonderful to deal with via email, always prompt with their replies, and very helpful with the many other queries we had concerning the property and Koh Samui in general. The house itself was just beautiful. It is so spacious, with a lovely living room and full size kitchen, and a double bedroom and bathroom downstairs, and then upstairs the huge master bedroom with king bed and very spacious bathroom, and then a twin bedroom, also with its own bathroom. We would love to come back again with family and friends as there was certainly plenty of space for everyone. We spent many an evening outside on the balcony or on the upstairs balsony outside the bedroom - very relaxing. The sparking pool was only a few steps away, and the beach just a little further. The beach was very clean and very quiet, which we loved. The house was cleaned every 3rd day, and was spotless. There were plenty of clean towels left. We are looking forward to another holiday here in the not too distant future, we just loved it. Also, we highly recommend the Bang Po Seafood Restaurant just down the beach. Lovely food and atmosphere on the beach, always full of locals, and very cheap.

"A lovely home, a tropical garden, right on a gorgeous beach"
Bahn Nam Soey is a lovely home, with so many personal touches and comforts. Beautiful tropical gardens, a very well-maintained pool and beautiful beach are right outside the door. As well, all amenities, including inexpensive restaurants are within walking distance, but it's worth hiring a car to explore the island. Brian and Gill were so friendly and helpful, always quick to reply to any questions. We can't imagine a better vacation!

"A little piece of Paradise!"
I stayed at Bahn Nam Soey for a week and didn't want to leave. The house is spacious and comfortable and nicely decorated. The bedrooms are all air-conditioned, which I found a necessity, not being used to the heat and humidity on Koh Samui. The main living area has celing fans, which dis a good job of keeping us comfortable. The house is located in a small (8 houses), private section of houses called Coconut River, off the main road in the Northwest corner of the island. The grounds are gorgeous and well-cared-for: palm trees and all sorts of flowering plants. The pool, which is steps from the house's verandah, is large and clean and so refreshing, and the beach is a 30-second walk beyond the pool. It was low season, and the peace and quiet was perfect for us. Potential renters should know that this home is away from the more-crowded and touristy areas. We could walk to a few restaurants (all good and reasonably priced), as well as to a 7-Eleven store, an outdoor produce market, and the ever-handy ATM. To get to other areas of the island, we simply stood at the road and hailed either a taxi or a little "bus" (a pickup truck with seats in the covered back). After negotiating a price for our destination, we'd just hop in and go. If you want a lot of convenient nightlife, etc., this home may be too isolated for you. It was the perfect mix of peace and beauty for us, and we never had trouble getting where we wanted to go if we were patient enough to wait for transportation to come along the road. If you rent a car, you'll have no trouble with this location at all. I highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

"Heaven of Earth - simply fantastic!"
Wonderful location - perfect for beach and not in the least bit 'touristy' unlike most of Koh Samui - really charming owners to communicate with prior to arrival and helpful host on property. Very comfortable and spacious accommodation in traditional thia style - exactly as described and photos are just as it is - would go again tomorow!
