The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

The property sits close to Loweswater just north of Crummock Water. Although rural amenities are not far away. The famous Kirkstile Inn is only 10 miuntes walk away and serves award winning food and ales all year round. It even has its own brewery! The nearest shops are in Cockermouth which is eight miles north, here you can enjoy a mix of specialist shops, restaurants and pubs. This is also the birth place of William Wordsworth and the house and garden where he grow up are open to the public. The lakes of Crummock Water and Buttermere are also a short drive from the property and allow for a number of low and high level walks all of which guarantee stunning views and perfect picnicking spots, the only thing we can't guarantee is the weather!
