The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

The town of Cockermouth is just three miles away that has delicious restaurants, shops and pubs along with a variety of attractions including the castle, Isel Hall and Wordsworth house for those who like to delve into a bit of history. There are also plenty of stunning lakes dotted near to Cockermouth which are definitely worth a visit. The size of the Western Lake District ensures that visitors will always find something to do in this beautiful spot and of course, plenty of outdoor activities to suit everyone from walking and cycling to horse riding and swinging from trees at Go Ape! There are many more different outdoor activities to try – you have to visit to believe it! Other attractions include the Honister Slate Mine and a handful of museums where visitors can delve into the history.
