The Galway / County Clare / County Galway region
Clonbur and the surrounding area (Connemara / Joyce Country) is renowned for its mountains, lakes, streams and woodlands. Wonderful for family walks.
Clonbur lies near Cong and the Mayo border and is an ideal centre for the trout angler as it nestles easily between the two great lakes Corrib and Mask. The lakes need no introduction to discerning anglers from these islands and the continent and are well known for wild salmon, fresh water trout, pike, perch and many others.
Mount Gable offers the visitor who likes an easy climb a panoramic view of breath-taking beauty. The effort is worthwhile because the views of Lough Corrib, stretching away to the south, Lough Mask to the north and the Connemara mountains to the west, are simply breathtaking as well as stunning views of the Maumturk mountains. A great place for hill walking and mountain climbing.
Petersburg Outdoor Centre is close to Clonbur village and offers windsurfing, canoeing, pot-holing, abseiling and also local nature trails.
Delphi Adventure Centre/ Lodge Spa is 30 minutes drive away and also offers a range of outdoor sports including sea-kayaking, surfing, diving, mountain biking, rock-climbing and a range of other activities.
