The Central England / Cotswolds / Worcestershire region
Diversity is an understatement when it comes to describing the Heart of England's many landscapes - a lovely view awaits you. In Derbyshire, Dovedale offers gentle valley walking with lovely views all along the length of the river.
Across the region the richly diverse history of England is celebrated in its full glory, Winchester Cathedral at Winchester in Hampshire is one of the largest cathedrals in England, with the longest nave and overall length of any Gothic cathedral in Europe.
Whether you want to immerse yourself in Shakespearian verse while you wander around Stratford-Upon Avon, or bask in the splendour of Chatsworth Hall and the forgotten beauty of Hardwick Hall, a holiday in the Heart of England spans centuries of heritage.
The ancient city of Hereford boasts an imposing Norman Cathedral, and is home to many historic treasures including the priceless Mappa Mundi, which is on display here. Shrewsbury is another ancient town, with 660 listed buildings, a Norman abbey and medieval castle making it well worth a visit.
If you want to enhance your holiday with truly fantastic food, then head to Ludlow, the gastronomic capital of Shropshire, described as 'the loveliest town in England'. The town has a lively market, regular food fairs, and speciality gourmet shops, not to mention seven Michelin-starred restaurants!
Culturally speaking, there's plenty on offer at the fascinating living industrial museum of Ironbridge, at Coalbrookdale or at the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent. But the feather in the Heart of England's cultural cap has to be the Hay-on-Wye Literature Festival, which takes place in May.
The Clifton on Teme / Tenbury Wells area
Fishing at carp pools is only a short walk from the cottage.
Pubs with traditional food are within a mile.
Plenty of wildlife and bird-watching opportunities.

We stayed for a long weekend, and had a wonderful time. It was quiet and peaceful with lots of places to walk and explore, with villages that are only a short drive away. The cottage itself was spacious and very well equipped with everything you would expect. The owners really went the extra mile to make sure our short break was enjoyable as it could be and we got the most out of the cottage and the area. The pictures don't do the cottage justice, it is a great place to stay. Really hope to visit again soon. We would highly recommend it! |

We have just returned from Christmas at Broach Cottage and had an absolutely fantastic time. The cotage is roomy and modern and has panaramic views all round and the owner Janice added some lovely touches to ensure we had a spectacular time. The cottage is warm bright and airy and with all the mod cons required to ensure the Christmas dinner is perfect. We would definately consider returning and recommend to all of our family and friends. The Tally Ho up the road is also very welcoming thanks to the barman John. Response: Thankyou very much for your great review.Very much appreciated. best wishes Janice |
