Clifden Town is the capital of Connemara one of the most scenic regions in Ireland. Established in the early 1800’s at Clifden Bay, it follows the classic 19th century layout: oval in plan, with three principal streets – Market Street, Main Street and Bridge Street, a Market Square, a fine bridewell or gaol, courthouse and harbour.
Clifden today is a vibrant and cultural town which has retained its historic roots while offering a wide range of services and facilities. You will find colourful streets with a great selection of small local food shops – (fishmongers, butchers, fruit and vegetable store, delicatessens and a bakery), numerous craft and gift shops, art galleries and exhibitions and other interesting shops including antique shops, designer clothes shops, jewellery and vintage shops.
A wide selection of pubs and music sessions in Clifden
In between all of these you will find a great selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs. Most pubs in Clifden serve bar food and have live music weekly. On the practical side there are four supermarkets (including Aldi and Lidl), two banks, three chemists, two petrol stations, two churches and a post office.
For many, the allure of Connemara is in the ever-changing scenery, the magical light, walks on the beach, turf fires, the rugged landscape, wildlife and flora, the sense of history or a plate of fresh oysters and a pint of Guinness by the fire singing along to a local music session.
We require a 30% deposit to confirm the booking, and the balance is due 90 days prior to arrival.
Rates are fully inclusive except for utilities which are charged separately as consumed.
The Western Ireland region
Connemara is world renowned for its stunning scenery. This coastal region has miles of beaches and fantastic walks. This is a great area to explore and is a great base for exploring the rest of the west from Clare to Sligo. Clifden is the capital and is located one hour from Galway city and forty minutes from Westport.
There are many local attractions in addition to the breathtaking scenery and coastline. Clifden town has a fantastic mix of shops, pubs, restaurants, theatre and small cinema. There are always events on in town to keep you busy, from live traditional music, live bands and theatre shows, to exhibitions, walking tours, pony fairs and local markets. We highly recommend Clifden Arts week in September for something special.

"Fantastic accomodations in Beautiful Manor House in Clifden for large group"
A large group of us stayed at this beautiful manor house to celebrate a 50th birthday and to bring a group of American friends to Ireland who have never been.....We can't say enough about our stay at the Sunnybank House...it exceeded our expectations! Fantastic home, walking distance to center of town, great chefs available to cook meals in the home - we were so spoiled..our meals were ready for us when we returned home from either a day of golf or a long day of sightseeing..great experience...our friends have said this was the trip of a lifetime!! Thank you sooo much for a wonderful experience!!

"Surpassed our wildest expectations!!!"
Sunnybank is a fabulous facility and located in a beautiful little town. The rooms were clean and bright, bath in each, great kitchen and dining room (fit all 18 of us comfortably), and there was plenty of space just to hang out. Many of our party had never experienced Ireland before, and were treated to a great location and incredible weather, better than I've seen in my 6 previous visits. We even used the pool and sauna. Shane took great care of us and checked in frequently to ensure we had everything we needed. Also, there are a couple of local folks who came in and cooked for us a couple of nights, who I would highly recommend as well. Check with Shane on them and he can hook you up. Thanks for a great experience!

"The Perfect Place to Call Home in Ireland"
I cannot say enough about how wonderful a time my family (21 in total between two houses) had staying at Sunnybank House. The space is amazing... beautiful and welcoming. Shane and Rachael are so helpful and there is nothing to want for in this gorgeous house. The kitchen and expansive dining table were perfect for the nights in. The area is perfect for all ages. The proximity to the town for a nightly pub crawl made it really feel like home. It's just a place to return to again and again as the people of Clifden and the spectacular environment are not to be missed. We really hated to leave.

"Great facilities both in the house and the surrounding area, perfect for friends and family."
We booked the house for my parents 50th wedding anniversary and it was ideal for a very large group with a mixture of children with varying ages. The rooms were well equipped, tastefully decorated and clean. The snug and large sitting room was perfect for us to gather and chat which we did every night. Clifden is a great town with fantastic shops, bars and restaurants and the location of the house was perfect. If I could make a suggestion it would be to put a traditional dishwasher in the house as the bottle washer didnt meet our needs.
