View the site from the monument on Errislannon. Connemara National Park: The park offers nature talks and guided walks. Connemara ponies, picnic areas and an information heritage and exhibition centre, together with an audio-visual show make for an interesting and educational day out. Marconi Transmitter Radio Station: Derrygimla is the location of the transmitter which made the first transatlantic radio transmission. The site of Marconi’s elaborate building works still shows traces of the former structure. Its generators were powered by turf cut from the peat bog. Sky Road, Clifden: Whichever way you travel the Sky Road - on foot, cycle or car - the views are breathtaking and the seascapes are inspirational, the perfect place to end a perfect day, watching the sun set over the vast Atlantic Ocean. Don't forget to stop off at Clifden Castle Situated on the Sky Road and now in ruins, this 19th century house was built by Clifden’s founder, John D’Arcy.

How to get there
Fly to Galway, Shannon or Knock. Galway is closest, but there is a very regular bus service from Shannon to Galway that leaves from outside the airport. If you fly to Knock, you would need to have a car organised or have somebody meet you. We can organise pick up should you wish.
