The East Anglia region
Situated on the North Norfolk Coast this area is an area of outstanding natural beauty, offering a wealth of different beaches to visit and all the fun that comes with them. This well established exclusive enclave has masses of enchanting villages along the coast and bustling market towns all with interesting shops and galleries, wine bars and restaurants. Local produce including fish and crab is available everywhere. There are plenty of charming pubs, some offering the finest food. The world famous Blakeney Point, with its white sands visible from the garden is where you will find there is nowhere better to be! East Anglia is notoriously dryer than the rest of the country and Cley, being where it is is often degrees warmer than just a few miles in land. The place is enchanted with out doubt.
Cley Next the Sea
The delightful village of Cley, at the mouth of the Glaven Valley has narrow streets lined with pretty flint cottages. There are two pubs both serving food, an award wining delicatessen as well as smoke house and an art gallery, pottery and second hand book shop. There are two cafes, windmill, contemporary bird centre and a magnificent medieval church. With surrounding reed beds and salt flats adding to the unrivalled charm of the area. Less than a mile away are equally charming seaside villages with their own personality and 3 miles inland is the fine town of Holt no less! full of boutiques, restaurants and wine bars. Book shops, antique emporiums and plenty more.

"Amazing setting and imaginatively designed accommodation."
Spacious living area. Easily accommodates 14 people. Very comfortable beds. Amazing setting with lovely views. Safe outside space for toddlers and young children, especially with the ride-on toys provided. Assorted kitchen equipment but the two Nespresso machines were much appreciated, as was the welcome gift basket. Ideal setting for a celebration.
Thank you for your very kind and helpful review, we particularly like to hear that the very very young have so enjoyed them selves! Best wishes, Alice and Jonny

"Great barn for going away with a group. Home from home facilities"
Great location. The kitchen is really well stocked. Great to have all ensuite facilities. There are lots of good places to eat in Blakeney and the Wiveton Bell is good. Fantastic beaches at Wells and Holkam.
Thank you for your kind review and positive comments, we notice you have awarded us 4 stars rather than 5 - I hope you were completely comfortable, please don't hesitate to let us know where you feel we could improve Barn Drift. Many thanks, Alice and Jonny

"Excellent place and perfect for large group"
Just back from a lovely weekend break as a group of 10 friends escaping children and husbands for a weekend - really lovely barn with tonnes of space and everything you could need on hand, e.g. nespresso coffee maker, log fire, beautiful décor and great location for the walks around Cley and Blakeney or the shops and tearooms of Holt. Lovely meal at the Kings Head at Letheringsett only a couple of miles away and a great weekend away in a fabulous setting.
Thank you for your kind review - it sounds like you had a blissful time, wish I had been there too! Best wishes, Alice and Jonny

"a stunning house in a stunning location"
The photos on the website almost do not do this absolutely stunning property justice! There is such a wonderful sense of style, luxury, space and light. All bedrooms were beautifully decorated and the layout was clever, contemporary and interesting. Location wise - there is lots and lots of totally safe outside space for children and dogs to run around in and the North Norfolk Coast is fabulous - lots to do and see in terms of beaches (Holkham is our favorite and if you like shopping there is Holt and Burnham Market. Best thing about this property is the 'wow' factor and the total comfort (beds are exceptionally comfortable). Worst thing : there was no cheese grater!
Very many thanks for your kind review of Barn Drift - as usual we are delighted to hear that you were all so comfortable and enjoyed your stay so much. We found the missing cheese grater... and garlic crusher by the way, both in the boot room! Hope to have you to stay again soon, Alice & Jonny

"Brilliant for a family celebration"
Our immediate family (13 of us) spent the week together celebrating a Golden Wedding. It couldn't have been better. A quiet beautiful location, the accommodation stylish, spacious, light and practical with all needs (unless disabled) catered for, comfortable and welcoming. And in catering for 6 couples + grandson, providing the needed en suite facilities. Everything was provided for cooking - even 2 dishwashers and espresso machines. And a large table we could all sit round for meals. The lounge with comfortable seating held all of us together, but there was a games room in addition. Also wi-fi. A large table outside allowed us to have 'al fresco' meals, with big sliding windows giving easy access from the barn/kitchen. And a croquet lawn! It was an unforgettably marvellous week for all of us thanks to Barn Drift.
Thank you for your very kind review. We are delighted that your wonderfully important family holiday was so much enjoyed by all ...and that you were all so comfortable, enjoying the stunning surroundings and stylish house with all its' practicalities. Please do come again soon. Best wishes, Alice & Jonny

"Fantastic stay in a beautiful property"
Stayed for a long weekend for a family reunion for a 70th birthday. Very spacious property and extremely well decorated. Large kitchen/dining area, large lounge which accommodated us all, and large terrace with ample dining space. Some bedrooms were much smaller than others and bathrooms also very variable in space. But in general a lovely barn and we had a very comfortable stay. The situation is fantastic, in the middle of fields and the beach only a mile away, again walking across fields. Grassy areas all around the house and it felt safe to let the children play outside without constant supervision. We saw lots of different birds and even deer in the adjacent field. Magical!
Dear Sarah, thank you for your very kind review and we are delighted you all enjoyed yourselves so much. We do hope you will stay at Barn Drift again soon. Best wishes, Jonny and Alice

"A unique and stunning setting for a memorable family holiday"
We loved our first stay at Barn Drift so much that we visited again this year and enjoyed it even more! The house is beautifully designed, furnished and very well equipped. There is plenty of room for the children to play, whilst the adults can find a quiet corner. We loved being able to cycle/walk to the village of Cley, where the playground was a great hit. The children adored the freedom of being able to play outside in the semi enclosed areas of the garden as well as in the adjoining fields, small wood and lanes. The panoramic views from all sides of the property, the quality of light and the peace of the setting was a delight to us townies.
Thank you for your lovely review, we are so glad that you have enjoyed the house and village so much and hope to see you again next year for your third visit. Best wishes, Alice and Jonny

"The most glorious place to stay for my husband's 70th Birthday."
We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place for all the family with masses of room inside and out for everyone, whatever the weather - though it was hot and sunny almost all week. The huge sitting room had comfortable and elegant seating for multiple purposes: reading/TV/Ipad games/a game of scrabble and all at the same time! The dining-room kitchen with a ceiling as high as a church, had the most beautiful views onto the walled garden on one side and through the woods to the sea on the other and quite took one's breath away. But the sheer luxury of everything made it such extra pleasure - like staying in a 5 star hotel, furnished with the most exquisite taste and no expense spared, where you are allowed to do self-catering and find that nothing has been overlooked - bullet coffee maker AND cappucino milk frother!
Thank you for your very kind review, we are truly delighted that you all enjoyed your very special week together and were so comfortable at Barn Drift. Do come again soon. Best wishes, Alice and Jonny
