About the home

A fully equipped bright and cheerful Provençal studio on one level, the guest wing of a secluded old Provençal farm house. A private terrace, garden, outside dining area, access and secure parking complement the studio which has double bed, American style kitchen & dining area and separate bathroom.

Ideal for couples seeking a comfortable peaceful hideaway in an idyllic rural setting from which to explore the South of France.

The studio / apartment has a simple but functional bright open plan aspect. Romantic cosy bedroom is reached through an archway. Separate bathroom and WC. This is our fourth season, the studio is upgraded each season.

Clean, tidy and uncluttered inside yet has everything you will need (and probably more) for your break.
Log fire & central heating if needed in the winter with a starlight ceiling in the bedroom for those snug romantic evenings in.

You will never have heard silence in the night like this !

TV & CD player with a vast range of CDs available with English satellite television.
Double or 2 single beds as preferred.

* A refundable 200 Euro (or Sterling equivalent) deposit to be lodged with us upon arrival against accidental breakages or damage.

* Meet & greet arrival :- To ensure top quality and worry free arrival of all guests,
upon departure 52 Euro is asked for > Meet & greet reception, linen, cleaning and checking out etc.
* We advise guests to take out appropriate insurance cover 'just in case' you are forced to cancel your break.
* We recommend that you also insure all your personal belongings during your holiday wherever you may visit.
* During low season heating is non-inclusive.
* Other than the above items there are no other extra charges you need to budget for.

* During your stay you will be left to your own devices, but should you need any assistance during your break we are available.

The Claviers area

Sitting at an altitude of 400metres with a population of just 597 people, Claviers is one of the smallest, unspoilt perched medieval villages in the region. Leading from the central square, a labyrinth of tiny passageways will guide you along side tall medieval buildings and archways sometimes a gap reviles stunning scenery and views out over forests and farms.

Stop on your way to the other side of town for a drink at one of the bars or restaurants before seeing the dramatic view down the valley onto the popular town of Bargemon. By foot there are miles upon miles of mountainous track ways for hiking, passing through vineyards, forests and fields, while using motorised transport opens up a plethora of local places to see and visit catering for all budgets and tastes. Claviers is just 23miles (38km) from the coast (Frejus) and 28miles (46km) from the Gorges du Verdon.

By Car:- Travelling from the UK you would exit the A8 ‘Auto route’ (Motorway) at ‘Le Muy’.

By Air :- Fly to Nice: 'Easy Jet' offer cheap flights. At Nice Airport, choose from one of the many budget car hire firms. The apartment is 81km (51miles) away, the trip will take about 1 and a half hours much of the journey on the A8 motorway.

By Train:- We would be happy to greet you at the nearest train station of ‘Les Arces’.

“Tranquility” Tim and Kim are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. Our stay was very enjoyable. The apartment was clean and comfortable. The fire made it cosy in the cool April evenings. The kitchen although small is quite adequate for cooking, which we did on several occasions. It was so very quiet and relaxing there especially at night. This was our first visit to the hills of the Var, and as the driver, I was a bit intimidated by the terrain and the roads, but after the first couple of days it was no problem. We really appreciate the unique beauty of this region. After our day trips to Cannes, Nice and Grasse we enjoyed sitting on the patio looking out over the hills, away from the bustle of the cities. We also loved the 'starlight' ceiling. We would definitely recommend this accommodation to friends.

“Relaxing, authentic getaway!” Tim & Kim were the perfect hosts. Totally recommend staying at the apartment if you're looking for a secluded, private spot but with (car) access to a number of the must-sees in Provence. Only wish we had longer!

“Beautiful and serene, with the best hosts ever!!!” Initially we stayed for 5 nights, loved it so much, we came back for one more on our way back to Nice airport. Location could not be better for exploring beautiful surroundings of Var region. Perfectly positioned from such landmarks as Gorges de Verdon. We would definitely recommend the car for getting around though! The flat itself is very cozy and clean. Very well stocked: we did quite a bit of our own cooking and the barbecue came in very handy! It does have a UK tv which was a bonus as well. But the best part were caring hosts. We were made so welcome, its beyond belief. We came with no food, facing closed shops and restaurants on a bank holiday Monday. Kim, our hostess, actually made us dinner and a pudding!! Both Tim and Kim are very helpful: they have suggested a number of good local shops and restaurants, nice places to visit. We would definitely love to come back and would suggest this beautiful place to anyone.

“a cosy hide-away in beautiful landscape” We spent 3 nights in the appartment in Claviers and we loved it. It has every comfort you need - an open fire-place, a well equipped kitchen, tv, and a nice bed with star-lights in the ceiling ! The entire place is decorated with a lot of taste. The owners are a very friendly and helpful couple - we got excellent advise regarding day-trips and and even the cheapest petrol station. Sitting on the terrace, you have a great view of the Provence - you can see hundreds of kilometers. Best to come by car and go for day trips to e.g. les Gorges de Verdon - most stunning canyon, I have ever seen. A homely place with a very peaceful, serene atmosphere - we will come again!

“The area is amazing, but apartment needs some work...” My partner and I stayed here last year, and while the apartment was quite nice, it was very small and somewhat overpriced. There were a couple of issues with the flat (e.g. septic toilet smelling awful) which we could have overlooked if cheaper but for the price, not acceptable. The host was friendly, and made us feel welcome. The area is amazing and a great location to explore from. However, we'd be unlikely to return to the flat again. Response: Hello Hanna. When I read your review, I could not remember you, but Kim reminded me that you were the friendly pregnant couple who turned up to stay in the middle of the night on the wrong day and beeped your horn to get us out of bed. The memories returned ... Laughing about that together during our 'apéritif' (drinks) a few days later once you had both settled in, your partner noted 'you were not so good on dates'. You both appeared so happy and relaxed during your stay. But without feedback we can't improve. So, to answer your points. The studio/apartment is advertised just as that, so I'm unsure what size you actually expected ? You paid just 32 euro per night each, I think for most civilised places (let alone the South of France) that is more than reasonable for the quality. I obviously don't know where you have stayed before to find this expensive, but wherever it is please pass on the names, I'm sure there would be great interest. The septic tank was newly installed in April 11, a guest proceeding you kindly walked the 30 or so meters to report some odors to us and the problem was traced to a wasps nest in a vent pipe. That's life in the countryside, these things happen, still, as I hope others reading this will wonder, why you simply didn't just tell us of the problem and why you could have coped with it had you paid less ? Waving you off and all the smiles at the end of your stay armed with our home made Olive Oil & Orange wine gifts to you, it was disheartening to read your review.
