About the home
Our villa is outstanding for it's quiet and secluded location with magnificent views over the surrounding hills, and yet close to some of the most beautiful hilltop villages in the Var - still unspoilt by tourism.
The villa itself is a haven of calm both inside and outside, recently redecorated throughout with tasteful provençal style flooring, 3 modernised bathrooms with spacious walk-in showers, towel heaters and provençal tiling. The spacious living area, under an oak beamed cathedral-style ceiling, comprises a living room with log burning chimney, and large dining room separated by a low wall from the well-equipped kitchen. Patio doors lead to a wide south facing terrace, recently relaid with high quality stone, and a rose covered pergola where a magnificent oak tree provides shady dining in summer with adjacent barbecue.
Three bedrooms (2 doubles and a third with 3 single beds) each have their own patio doors leading out to the large private swimming pool with Jacuzzi. The Master bedroom leads out onto the newly laid terrace with additional table and chairs.
A recently restored“cabanon” (small stone-built studio) set apart from the house provides additional sleeping accommodation (double bed) and shower, toilet and wash basin (hot & cold running water). There is also a large, shaded patio area with additional seating - an ideal place to listen to nature or watch the children playing.
In the main house, a full bathroom with spacious walk-in shower and WC, plus a separate shower room with large shower & WC, completes the accommodation.
Satelite TV with DVD, VHS and hi-fi, Internet service (wifi and broadband), and a range of indoor games. Outdoors, we have been lovingly caring for the forest and gardens, and have installed on the different terraces pétanque, Volleyball and ping-pong. There are several outdoor patio areas, and a large outdoor dining area with electric barbecue.
Much of your time will probably be spent around the large, heated swimming pool with a good range of loungers, parasols and pool furniture. We also supply a number of pool games. We are planning to add a further pergola to this area to provide additional shade in summer.
Fully equipped kitchen with separate utility room includes oven and hob, microwave oven, dish-washer, washing machine, fridges and freezer. and extremely well equipped in crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils (including bread-maker) + high quality plastic plates & glasses for use around the pool.

Owners live in France (English and French speaking) and are well linked to local services to help with any needs during your holiday. A friendly and helpful locally-based couple look after the house, swimming pool and garden.

This privileged region of France combines the delights of sea and mountains and benefits from all year sunshine (The Var is renowned for having the most sunshine hours in France).
There is a wonderful choice of activities for all interests and ages. In every direction there is beautiful walking or drives in stunning scenery, to fortified villages, castles, lakes, famous coastal resorts such as St. Tropez, Ste Maxine, St. Raphael, Menton, and the islands, or drive towards the mountains and the spectacular Gorges du Verdon and the Mercantour. Other sports in the area include golf, tennis, hiking, gliding, water sports and horse-riding etc. Or you can just relax in the quiet of your own special provençal villa... The Claviers area
Claviers is a delightful unspoilt French village, dating from the 16th century, situated mid-distance between the coast and the Alps at 400 meters elevation. There are 2 restaurants, a bakery, bar and general store, plus a wide choice of restaurants in the nearby picturesque villages of Fayence, Callas, Bargemon, Seillans etc.
The villa is in a quiet rural section next to an olive grove and vineyards; a small path takes you into the village. We also provide information on a wide range of walks in the area.
For enthusiasts of golf, gliding, skiing, art and music festivals, we also happy to provide information about how to make the most of your holiday time with us.

We have been holidaying in France with our son (now a teenager) for the last 5 or 6 years, always a private villa in the rural south and with swimming pool as the main critiera, and this was definitely the best by quite a long way. Booking direct with the owners was great - all our questions answered really openly (and quickly) and honestly. The caretakers meet you in the local village and take you to the property which is excellent as it would be hard to find down the tiny lanes and they are cheerful and friendly - even brought their daughter as translator - maybe anticpated just how poor my French is. The location is superb if you are looking for absolute rural tranquility without feeling isolated. Although well off the beaten track and without being overlooked at all there are other properties nearby, Callas the local village is 5 minutes drive or 20 minutes (steep) walk and there are many restaurants within a short distance including some Michelin stars. We basically stayed put - one supermarket shop plus forays to Callas for fresh bread and fruit and veg at the market saw us through two weeks with the general feeling being why would we want to leave such a lovely place if we didnt have to? We loved the views, the boules court, the badminton nets, the table tennis and the big oak tree with its welcome all day shade and the hammock for lazy afternoons but the highlight was the pool - great size, heated if you need it, day long sunshine, really clean and looking out over the valley and hills. Perfect. The main area of the house is spacious and open plan and although there were only three of us there is plenty of room for larger parties with two sitting areas and a large dining table. The bedrooms are comfortable and if you keep the shutters closed still cool without aircon. Kitchen had everything you need and plenty of work space - two fridges also ideal. Lots of good outdoor seating and always a choice of sun or shade. Can't really think of anything we didnt like - best thing is the pool, the peace and the views - best combination is swimming in the warm pool at dawn watching the sun come up into the valley in absolute quiet apart from early bird song. Heaven. Its not for anyone looking for nightlife but there is lots to entertain a family of kids (including nearby attractions) as long as you like the great outdoors, perfect I would think for a group of friends who enjoy their own company and good food (and wine) and also for stressed business execs who need to unwind but can still stay in touch with the excellent WiFi connection. If it needs any more recommendation - we're booking already for next year so we don't miss out! |

The property's weekend rates apply to: Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights
NB: Prices may be subject to change at the advertiser's discretion.
Tarif from May to October includes all costs (electricity / bed-linen etc) and includes the heated swimming pool. From November to April bed linen IS included but electricity is not. If you wish to reduce costs, you may bring your own bed linen.
In high season, (July-August), changeover day is Saturday. Outside of this period, we are happy to explore options on duration of stay, arrival and departure dates, and at certain times of the year, we will be happy to discuss special rates.
On booking, a 20% deposit is requested; final payment is within 8 weeks of the start of your holiday. Deposits/final payments are normally non-refundable - unless we can re-let the villa.
