Home description

Spectacular villa set in its own private valley. Fifteen acres of gardens and woodland to explore, including organic fruit and vegetable gardens for guests, children's garden, and 500 sq metres of marbled terraces for al fresco living and sun worship.
Right beside the medieval hill village of Claviers, with its' own bars and restaurants and just a sort hop to other hill villages with a wide variety of restaurants and bars and street markets to explore. Festivals are held every weekend at one hill village or another, with attractions and dancing until the early hours. The Cote d'azur is an hour away by car and ski stations an hour in the other direction.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region

Claviers is in a region of low rainfall with a warm sunny climate. The area is famous for both beach holidays and skiing. Both about an hour away by car, as is the airport and the major towns of the Cote d'azur, Cannes, Antibes, Grasse etc., all with beaches, chic shopping and thousands of restaurants including some of the best tables in the world. Monaco can be reached by the Corniche road, or a short helicopter trip from Nice.


Claviers area

Claviers is in th 'Arriere Pays' Softly rolling wooded hilsides, cooler than the coast in summer. The area is dotted with medieval hill villages each with it's own flavour and vibrant culture. The villages take turns to hold festivals in the summer, and every weekend there is one somewhere. These festivals contain a mixture of fairgound attractions and dancing to live music, and everyone stays up until the early hours, sometimes for three or four days at a time. There is a thriving community of local artists and exhibitions are held in all the villages. The village 'Place, is a place to meet the locals, and enjoy an aperitif in the shade of the plane trees or find the boule pitch and join in the local game. The coast is an hour by car, and there is a variety of golf courses close by. Europes biggest gliding centre is about twenty minutes away, and for breathtaking views the Gorge du Verdon, forty minutes up into the hills, cannot be beaten.

Nice airport has all major car hire companies, some with fly/drive packages
One hour drive from the airport, heading west, twenty minutes of Autoroute A8
and forty minutes along the lake road, through beautiful Fayence country, with
medieval hill villages following one after the other until you arrive in Claviers.
Marseille airport is also possible.It is two hours away by car.

The Villa is presented in two parts. The main house has two bedrooms, one with it's own jacuzzi, a cozy sitting room, a large kitchen and elegant dining room with open fire. The annex is just across a marble veranda. It comprises a double bedroom with morroccan style wet room also with jacuzzi. Both main house and annex have their own terraces and sun roofs There is a sauna room and two large terraces, illuminated and with dining tables and chairs for dining outdoors on warm evenings. Bedrooms are decorated to inspire your dreams and they all have fluffy towels and soft duck down duvets. Vegetable and Fruit gardens are planted for the use of guests, Barbecues are provided and a Mexican Cheminea (Outdoor fireplace) to warm the evening air.

Further details outdoors:
Lagoon shaped 'walk in- walk' out pool, with salt water purification so that guests can imagine that they are at the beach without the drive. The pool is surrounded with loungers, a hammock and an open air shower for cooling off. The property has it's own boules pitch for practicing the local sport. Acres of rose gardens and lawns, three fish pools, and of course it's own private five acre wood. Guests can go for quite a long walk without leaving the property, at the same time, it only takes a few minutes to walk into the village. The children's garden has swings and a little house, and a huge lawn for kicking a ball around.
