A charming end of terrace cottage set in the pretty village of Stoke-by-Clare on the Suffolk/Essex/Cambridgeshire borders offering guests a very comfortable and relaxing stay, rated 4*Gold in April 2014 by Visit England.
Stoke Cottage is ideally located for exploring this beautiful part of East Anglia which is famous for the filming of the TV series Lovejoy, many of the local pubs were used in the filming, the antique shops in Long Medford were a focal point of the programme.
The cottage is approximately 250 years old and boasts a wealth of original features including ceiling and wall beams, flagstone flooring and an open fire, it has a wonderful ambiance. It is situated 150 mtrs from the main road, so reduced traffic noise.
The property is perfectly placed for visiting Clare, Long Medford, Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, there are over 40 attractions in the area, from stately homes to castles and nostalgic steam train rides, the Leisure Centre at Haverhill 5 miles away has indoor swimming pool and a fitness gym and sauna, there is something for everyone.
London is just an hour train ride away leaving from Audley End.

Stoke Cottage has undergone complete refurbishment and offers it's guests very comfortable accommodation.
The lounge has a sofa bed and two arm chairs, 32in flat screen TV, DVD player, CD player, WiFi (BT Broadband), pine dresser, pine table and 5 chairs, it is decorated in Laura Ashley fine fabrics and accessories.
It has a fully fitted kitchen with a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster slow cooker etc
The master bedroom has a king size bed, a pine bedside table, pine chest of drawers and a pine wardrobe. Laura Ashley Roman blind and accessories.
The second bedroom has two single beds, pine bedside cabinet, pine chest of drawers and pine wardrobe. Laura Ashley Roman blind and accessories.
The bathroom has a full size bath, a double size shower cubicle with a power shower, toilet and hand basin.
The garden is fully fenced and is safe for children, there is a patio table, four chairs and a parasol, parking is either at the end of the garden or just outside the side entrance on a very quiet no through road.
For families there is also a play area for the children just 300 meters away, for the adults there is a really nice country pub serving traditional meals and beers just 150 meters away and next to it is the local village store for fresh milk and bread.

The East Anglia region
The area has over 40 attractions to tempt guests in to staying in the beautiful part of East Anglia, from Stately homes , Steam railways, The Imperial War Museum at Duxford Cambridgeshire, Flatford Mill in the Dedham Vale, racing at Newmarket or punting on the River Cam in Cambridge. There are zoo's, wildlife parks and Pleasure Wood Hills for the children.
The train at Audley End will take you straight into London.
There is something for everyone.
Stoke Cottage is situated on a side road off the main road in Stoke by Clare, just a few hundred meters there is the local pub serving good food with the village shop (which is run by volenteer's from the village community).
Clare the smallest town in England is only ten minutes away with it's traditional butchers, green grocer, chemist and hardware store.
There is also a Co-Op supermarket which is open from 8am-10pm everyday.
