House | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Chez Hammond is spacious, detached and sits in a large garden in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. There are wonderful views of the high mountains, particularly Canigou, the 2,700 metre sacred mountain of the Catalans. Mature trees give patches of shade in the garden with its lawns, flowerbeds and 12 metre maintained pool. The setting is tranquil but within easy access of the shops and amenities in Prades, a pleasant market town ten minute's walk away. The house is ideal for family and group holidays. There are four bedrooms - three doubles and another with two singles - a toilet on each of the three floors, a bath room with shower and an additional shower room.
The area is outstanding for walking and cycling, and within 45 minutes' drive of the resorts on the Mediterranean coast. Steeped in history, the region is rich in Romanesque abbeys, Cathar castles and ancient hilltop villages.

Not overlooked, we spent happy hours by the capacious pool in privacy. You neither see or hear any neighbours.
Great all-round facilities.
Short walk to the charming town for the normal vibrant french market.
Excellent location. View of the mountains from your breakfast patio.
No complaints at all.

"A magnificent family trip to Prades"
In 2012 my wife, myself, our son, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren had a twelve day holiday at the Hammond's property on the outskirts of Prades in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The holiday was wonderful. So was the property. Situated on the slopes of a mountain, it has splendid views. Mount Canigou (which was still capped with snow when we were there in May) towers over everything. The house has everything an extended family needs - and more. It has space to spare, a large swimming pool, an extensive garden and all mod cons. It is hard to imagine better accommodation for a family of seven.
The surrounding area is similarly delightful. The house is situated in the heart of the eastern Pyrenees. The Mediterranean is less than an hour away in one direction and Andorra not much further in the other. There are a host of places to visit - small villages, castles, abbeys, seventeenth century fortresses, even a zoo - all within twenty minutes of the property. Prades is a pleasant ten minute walk from the house.
The ages of our party ranged from six to over sixty. We all had a wonderful time and would recommend a stay in the area generally and at the property specifically to anyone.
