There is also a fully equipped fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and full oven and a separate dining area with a large table for communal meals. A few steps lead to a modern wet-room with shower, basin and w.c.

Upstairs you will find 4 bedrooms and a bathroom with bath, w.c. basin and bidet. Bedrooms 1 and 2 face the front of the house. Both have French windows opening onto balconies with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Bedroom 1 has a king size double bed and bedroom 2 twin beds. Bedroom 3 is a double at the back of the house. Bedroom 4 is a children's room which leads off bedroom 3. It has a cot and full size bunk beds.

Further details outdoors

Outside there is a large terrace with wonderful views, and partial shade for those hot summer days. The driveway provides parking for up to 3 cars and continues around to the front of the house to provide more opportunities for lazing in the sun! There is also a garden to the side of the property, but this is not enclosed.

There are outdoor swimming pools in both the neighbouring villages which are open to the public.

The Marche/Abruzzo region

Abruzzo is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt regions of Italy. This is the real Italy, a place still relatively untouched by tourism – the locals still tend the land and the cuisine reflects whatever is fresh and in season. Restaurants here offer simple fare full of flavour and passion. Wherever you go you are made welcome.

For the visitor this is an area of undiscovered delights, from the hiking trails that lead high into the surrounding hills and mountains to incredible historic and spiritual sites and perfect hilltop towns. In summer enjoy the long sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast and the multitude of local Festivals. In winter visit the excellent but little known ski resorts of Roccaraso and Passo Lanciano.

Civitella Messer Raimondo

Civitella Messer Raimondo is a medieval village perched on the top of a hill beneath the towering cliffs of the Majella mountain. The locals are extremely friendly and are always ready with a smile and a buongiorno, even if you speak little or no Italian. In the summer there is a festival almost every week, with food, music and fireworks.

The house itself is on the edge of the village, giving it privacy and magnificent views, yet placing it within a couple of minutes walking distance from the amenities.

There is a small but well stocked supermarket, a bakery for fresh bread every morning, a pharmacy and even a doctors surgery should an emergency arise. The local bar has a sunny terrace with views of the mountain and there is a lovely park with children’s play area.

In the local area are Fara San Martino, famous for pasta throughout Italy and beyond; a picturesque lake with a restaurant serving fresh, local fare and many lovely walks through villages, hills and mountains. Further afield you will find the beautiful historic towns of Guardiargrele (approx 20 minutes drive) and Lanciano (approx 30 minutes drive) with their piazzas, churches, shopping and excellent restaurants. Family friendly beaches and quiet, unspoilt ski resorts also lie within half an hour of the villa.
