All these are easily possible using this property as a base. Other towns worth visiting include Lucca, San Gimignano, Arezzo and Cortona.
There are a wealth of activities to enjoy during your stay whether it's wine tasting and a tour of a local vineyard or a trip to the olive groves and olive oil tasting. Civitella in Val di Chiana
The property is ideally located on a hillside in Gaiole in Chianti, surrounded by Chianti Classico vineyards. It is within easy reach of some of the most important sights in Tuscany & Umbria. Siena is just a 30 minute drive away whilst the larger city of Florence is a 1 hour drive as is the smaller town of Cortona and the wonderful city of Arezzo. Perugia is 90 minutes away whilst Pisa is a couple of hours away. Even day trips to Rome are possible. It's a 2.5 hour drive to the city but very easy to get to by train.
If you enjoy golf, then this property is an ideal destination! There are 6 courses within a 50km radius of the property. The nearest is the Ugolino golf course less than 30 kilometres away in Grassina. This is the oldest golf club in Tuscany. Set in the heart of the Chianti region and only a few miles from the centre of Florence, the spectacular hillside course has wonderful views over the Tuscan countryside. Castentino and Le Pavoniere are 2 more inviting layouts. They are slightly further but well worth the trip.
The coast is about 2 hours away if you want to spend a day on the beach. One of the best towns on the coast is Viareggio, which is also Tusancy's biggest seaside resort. Viareggio has an air of elegance afforded by the long avenue of palms that run the length of its promenade and is worth a visit. The seaside resorts north from Viareggio to Forte dei Marmi are certainly popular with wealthy Florentines. Alternatively head inland to the beaches around Castiglione del Lago just an hour away.
The nearest airport to the property is Florence approximately 60 minutes away. Next closest is Perugia which is approximately a 90 minute drive from the property. If you don't mind a slightly longer journey from the airport, it's also possible to fly to Pisa or Bologna, both of which have an approximate transfer time of 2 hours. Car hire is essential if you want to explore all that Tuscany has to offer.
