The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Six Reasons to go to Costa Blanca · Blue Flag sandy beaches with clear blue sea · Popular well-established resorts with great facilities · Spirited Fiestas and Buzzing Nightlife · Pretty hilltop villages and rugged mountainous walks · The largest theme park in Spain · World class golf courses
Go… exploring
The Costa Blanca offers such a wide variety of activities that holidaymakers are spoilt for choice. Sightseers delight in the Moorish castle at Guadalest, the Castell de Santa Barbara in Alicante or the area’s countless historical churches. Explorers take to the cool Sierra de Aitana mountains, discover caves and waterfalls and breathe in the fragrant citrus groves. Families will love the water and theme parks, water sports and the many excursions available. For others a range of sports are on offer, including a coastline filled with some of Spain’s best golf courses. However you choose to spend your holiday, you will find something to suit you.
Go… to the beaches
The white sandy beaches of Costa Blanca offer every modern convenience and many have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness. Water sports, diving and sailing can be found in most places along with beach bars, restaurants and shops. The shoreline is dotted with rocky bays and secluded inlets good for diving and fishing - but it is the clean white sand gently sloping into clear sapphire water that really appeals to families and couples alike and makes our villa holidays in Costa Blanca one of the most popular in Spain.
Go…shopping
Shopping on the Costa Blanca is some of the best Spain has to offer. Coastal town streets are lined with shops selling everything from handbags to lace, and perfume to sun cream. Most items are competitively priced and a good buy in the area is locally produced wicker wear. For fun shopping, visit a lively market – stalls are filled with fresh fruit and fish, hand-painted ceramics and colourful rugs. For chain-stores and more sophisticated designer wear, visit Alicante’s large malls or browse along the esplanade and try the turron (nut nougat) a local delicacy.
Go… for nightlife
Costa Blanca is one of the Spain’s hottest nightspots and countless bars, discos, clubs and pubs draw partygoers all along the coast.
Take time to go… · To a local fiesta. Witness the epic battle between the Moors and Christians, or watch giant effigies burn on the bonfires of the Fallas. · To Tirra Mitica, the largest theme park in Spain. Ride through the myths and legends of the ancient world. Ciudad Quesada, Rojales / Benijofar / Benimar area
Location: Villa Suzanna is situated in the Rojales Hills outside the town of Rojales and village of Benijofar. It is approx 10km to the beaches of Guardamar and La Marina. 5 mins drive to La Marquesa Golf Club. 5 Mins drive into Rojales where you will find are large Mercadona supermarket,Intermarche and local market on Thursdays. Between Rojales and Benijofar lies the Urbanisation of Benimar and on the edge of this there is the commercial area fronting the main road. This contains a large supermarket as well as a newsagents, card shop, hairdressers, ladies clothes shop along with numerous bars and restaurants. There is a Chinese, Indian, Fish and Chips (Norwegian owned), Pizzeria, Mexican , as well as other snack bars and pubs. Rojales is a traditional farming town which depends on agricultural production. It concentrates on the growing of citrus fruits, which account for 70 % of the cultivated land. Due to its proximity to the coastal area people also tend to work in the service sector. Several residential housing estates have been constructed within the municipal district including Ciudad Quesada, Lo Pepin, Dona Pepa and Benimar. This has led to an improvement in Rojales' infrastructure and the town now has a multi-sports hall and a Municipal Theatre. Also, various rundown areas have also renovated, for example, the Barrio de las Cuevas has now become a centre for the arts and crafts. There is also a Museum de La Huerta (Link) which is well worth a visit
Elche is 23km (14miles) away and it’s the capital of the El Baix or Bajo Vinalopo (Lower Vinalopo) district. The third largest city in the Valencian Region in terms of population. The City’s original site was at L’Alcudia, several kilometres south, where the Iberian bust of the Dama de Elche was found. The city was moved by the Moors to its present position and encircled with palm trees. The City of Palms, it is the largest plantation of palms in Europe with almost 300,000 trees ( who counted them !) covering 430 hectares and because of this it has been declared a world heritage site. The visitor has much to see, once they have found their way around the one way system and actually found a car park. August is Fiesta Time in Elche and it all goes a bit mad. They have a Nit del Alba and the fireworks start around 5pm and end in the early hours. Watch out as people are always hurt as safety standards are low. The Processions are worth seeing and the Misteri (Link to below) if you understand Spanish. Go to the Tourist Office and pick up some of their Ruta Leaflets which are available in English. These give you walks around the City and take in the main things to see plus opening times etc. Also worth a look: www.turismedelx.com . Lots of info in English and Spanish.
