The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

The Costa Blanca means "White Coast" due to its beautiful white sandy beaches and the European Blue Flag Award is not uncommon. It averages 320 days of sunshine a year making it an all year round holiday destination.

Due to the health giving properties of the salt lakes combined with climate, the World Health Organisation rates this area as one of the healthiest places in the world to live. Torrevieja has it all with its restaurants, clubs, casinos, bars and shps and has a pretty esplanade which stretches from the Marina.

The Marina has a range of watersportds, sailing, windsurfing, motor cruising, para gliding and jet skiing. Fishing, horseriding and walks are just a few other activitites you can enjoy.

There are a host of art galleries, cathedrals, museums and monastries to visit in places such as Murcia, Cartagena, Orighuela and Alicante.

There are markets every day of the week selling everything fom fresh produce to clothes, jewellary, arts and crafts and some good bargains are to be found.

Ciudad Quesada, Rojales / Jardin de Laguna area

The villa is situated a five minute drive into the main town of Quesada with all it's shops, bars and restaurants you can walk to the town within 25mins, it is situated a ten minute walk from a country club with a pool, bar, restaurant and tennis courts and bowling.

The nearest golf club for those golf fanatics is La Marquesa and can be reached within 5 minutes by car there are a further seven championship courses a short drive away, La Fina being only a ten minute drive.

The beautiful old town of Rajales, just a 5 minute drive away from the villa is a traditional farming village. Lying on the banks of the Segura River, water has played an improtant part in its past and present history. Present day Rojales has been able to combine its tradition and culture with a more modern life style and is a popular location for holiday homes and for people settling permanently in the area.

Also of great interest to visitors are the series of cave houses (El Rodeo), dut into hills south of the town during the 19th century which are now mostly used by artists and craftsmen with all the houses set out and numbered, there is also a cafe/bar and picnic area which is a great place to sit with a cold drink just taking in the atmosphere. These cave houses are signposted from the Aqua park and a ten minute drive away. While visiting the cave houses you must also visit the shell house, a testomy to one mans patience. Decorated over many years by Manuel Fulleda Alcaraz the house which is still lived in is covered in patterns of shells, mirros and tiles.

Rojales holds a number of fiestas and festivals the most important being the 29th June in honour of its patron saint Pedro (Peter). Other important festivals are the Romeria de san Isidro during May and the Virgin Mary of the Rosary during Octorber.

Guestbook

Hi Lynne

We had a wonderful holiday in Spain. The weather was wonderful and your villa
was perfect for a family vacation and had everything we needed.Boys loved
the pool more than the beach, because they do not like to have sand between
their toes.We went to the Shell House in Rojales as well as to the cave
houses. We also drove to Busot and visited Cuevas de Canelobre. We drove twice
to Alicante and went also shopping in Torrevieja. We played minigolf in
Quesada and boys loved it.The Banana Tree in Quesada was absolutely
wonderful. We ate there four times. Our boys ordered always chicken and chips
and learnt to say that in English.(The school starts here on the 11th of
August and Niklas will start to learn his first foreign language, English).
We also went to Amsteleria a few times to eat Tapas and thought that was a
great place too.
Thank you for a wonderful stay in your villa!

Best Wishes
Tea, Jan, Niklas and Tomas
Hi Lynne,

Thank you very much for letting your lovely villa in Quesada to us. It is so quiet over there. We had fantastic weather and had a lovely time. We hired bikes and travelled to Guardama and Torrevieja.

Your neighbours in Quesada are fantastic. They were so helpful and kind. We met Sheila, Sue & John (gave us a few lifts) and the couple who live opposite to your villa. You are very lucky to have them!!

I would love to travel out there again but am not sure when. End of Sept/early Oct seems a good time to visit. I will definitely contact you again when I am in need of sunshine....

Adios for now
Best Wishes
from Yasmin & Ian
