Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 8
A chance to stay in a piece of living history, this cottage is owned by the Prince Bourbon del Monte who still lives in the recently restored Castle at the top of the village of Monte Santa Maria Tiberina. Carefully and immaculately restored, the cottage offers comfortable and spacious accommodation for 4 to 8 guests in 3 bedrooms, 2 with en-suite bathrooms plus a further 2 bathrooms with shower.
Stunning views from every bedroom and wooden beams and terracotta tiled ceilings throughout. The cottage has a fully fitted kitchen including oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. The Umbria region
Umbria is a stunning, mountainous region of Italy. Bordering Tuscany, it's more well known sister, Umbria has fantastic cuisine, stunning medieval hilltop towns, a rich culture of art, history and traditions passed down through the centuries which tourists can see and take part in even today.
The weather is fantastic between May and early October, meaning life mainly takes place outdoors, alfresco, with many towns, cities and villages coming alive at passeggiata time (around 6pm).
Just some places to visit are Perugia, Gubbio, Città di Castello, Montone, Lake Trasimeno, Todi, Spello, Assisi, Spoleto, Deruta and Orvieto, not to mention Monte Santa Maria Tiberina itself!
Citta Di Castello
Città di Castello is a thriving market town dating back to Roman times. It still has its original stone wall and recently restored medieval Rocca (Il Torrione), now underground but open to visitors all year round. It has a twice weekly market (Weds and Sats), lots of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and boutiques and clothes shops as well as museums, a pinacoteca (with paintings by Signorelli) and the world famous Burri Art Museum.
In October, Città di Castello hosts the annual White Truffle Fair when the town is full of stalls selling truffles, porcini mushrooms, olive oil and much more. Late summer sees Città di Castello hosting the Festival of Nations with concerts taking place all over the town, both in the piazza and some of the chuches.
