The Umbria region
Citta di Castello nestles in the Tiber valley and is a busy town with narrow streets and mediaeval buildings. The house however, has an open aspect and is on the corner of 2 streets overlooking the beautiful arched city wall, a public garden and a "boule" court. There is a small private railway line from the local station going south to Perugia - the county town of Umbria, and north to Sansepolcro (famous for its paintings by Piero della Francesca) There are buses to Arezzo which is on the main Rail line to Florence and Rome. Lake Trasimeno, Italy's 4th largest lake is half an hours drive and has a man-made beach and two islands to visit by ferry. Assissi, Siena, and many other well-known towns are within striking distance, as well as some smaller, less well-known but interesting hilltop towns.
Citta Di Castello area
There are many "festas" - special events throughout the year, the most famous in Citta di Castello is the Truffle Fair in November. The surrounding towns and villages have their own events which normally have a theme such as the festa of the mushroom, or fish, or beefsteak. These events are great fun , the local people preparing the food ,and there is usually music and dancing well into the night. There is a huge antiques market in both Perugia and Arezzo at the beginning and end of each month, and a smaller, flea market in Citta itself once a month The Umbrian film festival is in early July, and the Perugia Jazz festival with many international bands and Gospel choirs from New Orleans is held at the end of July. There are regular concerts of classical music (usually free) held in the town throughout the summer.

Further details outdoors: The main living area with living /dining room and kitchen leading to the terrace are at first floor level with one bedroom on the ground floor and the other above the lounge. The owner is a keen gardener and the garden has an abundance of shrubs, trees, roses and herbs - a real treat in a town house! There is a laundry room with washing machine at street level.
Conditions
A deposit of 50% of the rental with the booking form will secure the booking - with the balance due 8 weeks before the holiday. There is no damage deposit guests are trusted to replace any breakages, and to treat the house as though it is their own.
