About the home
Perfect for couples, honeymooners and a small family in all seasons. This 400 year old farmhouse sits in 37 hectares of meadows with breathtaking views of the Tuscan/Umbrian hilltowns. Although secluded, the property is 5 mins drive from Citta della Pieve, one of the most enchanting medieval villages in Umbria also on the border of Southern Tuscany. Perfectly positioned to explore these two wonderful regions. The farmhouse has been beautifully restored keeping traditional features of chestnut beams & terracotta tiles, rustic and stylish with modern amenities. Set back from the road in landscaped gardens with 360 degree views with large mosaic pool. The apartment is cool in summer yet cosy and warm in winter. A luxury welcome basket of hand picked extra virgin olive oil (from my own olive grove), wine & handmade soap is provided. Rome and Florence are an easy day trip away.

Our 2-week stay in Selve Vecchie last September was wonderful! The property is superbly located: amidst the Umbrian hills yet only a short drive away from Citta della Pieve, a very nice village with all amenities (shops, bars, restaurants, lively festivals etc.). The apartment itself is perfectly equipped and definitely spacious enough for 2 people. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and everything was supplied for a first dinner and breakfast the next morning (which was ideal as we arrived on a Sunday). The outside table & chairs are excellent for al fresco dining and enjoying a star-filled evening. If you are as lucky as we were, the remainder of the property is virtually empty and you can enjoy the gardens and very large pool (excellent for early morning swims) all by yourselves! Numerous trips are possible from Selve Vecchie: Perugia, Assisi, Cortona, Montepulciano, Orvieto and many more. The Trasimeno Lake is very close by surrounded by multiple lovely villages. Highly recommended for sporty people is a bike ride around the lake: amazing! In short: a truly fantastic holiday and we would highly recommend Selve Vecchie to any couple looking to enjoy la dolce vita in a wonderful setting! |

We had a lovely time together in Selve Vecchie, exploring Umbria and Tuscany. The apartment is gorgeous with lots of beautiful soft furnishings. We really enjoying using the well stocked kitchen to cook authentic Umbrian fare. Would really recommend as a retreat for a couple. |

My boyfriend and I stayed at this property for a week during our summer holiday in Italy and didn't want to leave! The apartment was fairly compact – though with more than enough space for two – but was very well equipped and furnished, and we felt completely at home from the moment we arrived. It was evident that a lot of thought had been put into all the details, from the welcome goodies (handmade soap, pasta, tomato sauce, a bottle of prosecco and some olive oil from the local area, on top of the basics you might expect) to candles, complimentary toiletries and luxurious bathrobes – which even got used in August. There was lots to see and do nearby, which the wealth of information provided about the local area helped us with, and we also enjoyed relaxing by the pool which had fabulous view of the surrounding area. On top of this, booking was easy, the directions were very clear and check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Overall a great experience – highly recommended. |

April 2011. "After a long and tiring flight of 20 hours from Australia and navigating Rome's Ring Road (even with GPS), it was wonderful to arrive at a wonderfully quiet and peaceful place. We loved Umbria with its hilltop towns at every turn. Having spent time in Tuscany 3 years ago, we prefer Umbria. We tried to visit as many places as possible and some of the recommended towns in Carmelle's folder. We have found people very helpful and forgiving of our poor language skills. Carmelle thanks so much for the soap and olive oil - a lovely touch. Now off to France!" Leigh & Bonita, Melbourne, Australia
June 2011. After 3 hectic days in Florence it was so nice to arrive here to peace and quiet which continued for the week as there were no other occupants in the adjoining apartments. Mostly lovely sunshine. Deborah gave us a warm welcome and the little cakes went down a treat – thank you. We particularly enjoyed Assissi and Orvieto and the wonderful countryside. Elizabeth-Ann & David Reed, UK
July 2011. We have had a brilliant time in Umbria and will definitely be back. We loved Assissi, Orvito and just driving around the countryside. I drove my husband mad wanting to stop at every sunflower field so I could take a picture. Thank you for the lovely extras you provided (the prosecco, oil and even the dressing gowns which still got worn in 30 degree heat)! You have a wonderful place and we will definitely recommend it to friends. Thanks again. Julia & Scott, UK.
July 2011. What a fabulous place. Thank you Carmelle and Debora!! We loved Ubria. The perfect blend of exploring hilltop towns, mooching, people watching and relaxation. The food and wine has been exquisite...whether from one of the lovely restaurants in Citta della Pieve or cooking at home with fresh Italian ingredients. And together we have found a taste for vino frizzante, vino bianco and rosso! We go back home truly relaxed and inspired to live a simpler life!! Karen & Andy, UK
