Home description

Orchard Cottage is a 5 minute walk from Keynes Country Park and its sandy lake side beach, which is the jewel of the Cotswold Water Park. Quiet enjoyment is the watch word on the estate as this is family orientated destination , yet we are perfectly positioned for shopping trips to the Spa towns of Bath or Cheltenham or to the many excellent eatories locally.

We have a shared outdoor pool (heated to 84 March-Dec) sauna, table tennis room,tennis court, chickens and shop all a few meters away. The stable door at the back, opens directly onto a 2 acre orchard bounded by the river thames (fenced) for a truly Swallows and Amazons experience. We have one double and two single room in the roof bedrooms all furnished with Egyptian cotton duvets/sheets. Our cottage provides a unique secure experience for a small family/group with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay.

The Central England / Cotswolds / Cheltenham / Gloucester region

We are located in the Cotswold Water Park Europe's largest expansion of inland water and as such we have an abundance of water sport activities a stones throw away and of course lovely walks along the Thames Path for those who prefer to watch the wildlife or follow the Thames to its source.

Being on the southern edge of the Cotswolds we don't need to expound on the beauty of the local villages which are world renowned.

Cirencester / Somerford Keynes area

Our estate can offer you a relaxing holiday as the kids will be happy to stay put due to the pool, trampoline, kids' play park and all that space! However, if you want to get about again within 5 mins you have Keynes Country Park with its 5 star sandy beach, cafes, high ropes course, watersport hire and play parks.

The Roman market town of Cirencester is 10 minute's drive away and the new Corinium museum is a must see as is a visit to the farmers market and many of the individual shops found in the town.

For the adventurous there are various activities on offer, such as Polo, cable skiing, paint-balling, aerial adventure, clay pigeon shooting and gliding. In addition to this you can visit the Westonbirt Arboretum, and the grounds of St Mary's Abbey.

How to get there

Our Cottage is 5 min taxi drive away from Kemble railway station or 10 mins from a National Express stop and lies within the Cotswold Water Park. We have a cycle hire shop 300yds away, so you don't need to bring your car as there is plenty to do within walking, cycling distance if you were here for only a couple of days and have kids but if you need more information please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you do want to bring your own car or hire one we are very simple to find and we are 1 1/2 hours from Central London,1 hr from Central Birmingham and 35 mins from Bath/Bristol.

We are a self catering bed and breakfast and we use a very simple pricing structure which is £75/night off peak for 2 plus £10/night per extra guest over 13 and £100/night in peak periods for 2 plus £15/night per extra guest over 13 (max 4), which is fully inclusive with a large breakfast hamper to get you started.

You can pay by cheque but we prefer to do it all via paypal (you do not need a paypal account and can use your credit card) and email.

We do require a live credit/debit card to act as a security deposit and we take £5 to check its live status.
