Mere Hide (sleeps 6) , 17 Howells Mere, is a luxury lakeside bolthole within Lower Mill Estate, a 450-acre nature reserve set in beautiful Cotswold countryside; at the heart of the Cotswold Water Park. This is one of the few smaller houses on the Estate, perfect for a smaller group. The beautiful and tranquil setting provides a luxurious backdrop for the myriad of leisure activities available, both active and passive, a perfect hideaway from the stresses of life. Enjoy UNLIMITED ACCESS to the pools, gym and treatments(extra) at the £6mil Artspa.
Mere Hide evokes memories of boat houses, dreamy lakeside homes and hides nestled in nature reserves.
The luxurious furnishings and modern comforts are complemented by textures of old: stone building, comfortable arm chair, glazed tiles, timber panelling, log fire stove, hunting trophies and vintage blankets. Its west facing decked terraces extend from the living space and two of the three bedrooms above, they hover tantalisingly over the lake; the shimmering sunset enveloping the view and the mysterious mists announcing dawn .The third room can be transformed into a bedroom for two young guests by unfolding bunkbeds or it can be used as a study or play area.
Central to the estate facilities sits the Artspa, designed to pamper your desires and remove all traces of stress. Swim in one of two heated 20m pools or reinvigorate yourself with a dip in the naturally filtered outdoor eco-pool. Relax in the steam room and sauna and revitalize yourself in the technogym. Luxuriate in the restful treatment rooms and choose from over sixty carefully selected relaxing therapies. (Outdoor pool will be heated from 27March-7Sept and 18Dec-5Jan)
At Mere Hide you are a stone's throw away from the serene unspoilt landscape of the estate, teeming with thriving wildlife; from migrating sand martins to encountering wild orchids, from spotting beavers to discovering owlets. Walk through the woodland and meadows, observe from the carefully located hides and re-engage with a simpler way of life.
We took possession of Howells Mere 18 months ago. Further along in Howells Mere, other houses are still being built.

As a family with 4 children of all ages we had a fantastic stay at Mere hide on the Lower Mill Estate. We felt 100% safe letting the children play outside and even our 9 year old rode to the shop every morning for supplies. We stocked up daily on bread, eggs and supplies from the estate shop and had lunch their every day. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The children loved the tree house on the estate and the beaver lake and the men did a bit of fishing which was great. The Spa was an added bonus, it was magnificent including the gym and treatments we had. All in all a perfect holiday for all ages in a lovely house and fabulous surroundings. We will certainly be returning. The Field Family |

Ellie Dudman, Chichester, 15thApr, 2011 Review Rating : 5/5
"We enjoyed a fantastic stay at Mere Hide. Our second time to Lower Mill Estate, and we carefully looked for a rental this time that was really well positioned with full access to all the facilities.
Mere Hide was a real find, smart and well maintained, with everything we needed in the kitchen. our older children loved the bunk beds, and although the bedrooms aren't huge there was lots of space for us all downstairs. The decked balconies are great, child friendly, and as we had amazing weather, great for sunbathing.
As the house faces west we got wonderful sun throughout the afternoon and great sunsets. There is still building work going on opposite the house but even with this i still think Mere Hide has one of the best positions and outlooks on the estate.
The facilities at Lower Mill are fantastic, warm indoor and outdoor pools with immaculate, child friendly, changing rooms. great outdoor play areas, and so much space for our older girls to ride their bikes.
There is so much to do nearby, Butts Farm and the waterbeach park both made superb days out.
Overall a fantastic holiday rental, going away with 3 small children is not easy but Mere Hide really makes it stress-free!
We will definately return!"
