River Cottage is a beautifully restored and renovated holiday cottage where a great deal of care and attention has been given to incorporate style, comfort and character in this cottage.

Finished to a high standard with a well equipped kitchen, cosy wood burning stove (a generous starter supply of logs) and heaps of character. Very pretty bed linen and white, fluffy towels provided.

Near to the stream with a pretty picture window so you can watch for the kingfishers - great for you twitchers out there!

Overlooking the stream is the cottage (enclosed) courtyard garden with lovely flower pots and garden furniture immediately outside your back door; you also have a garden (detached from the cottage) of half an acre which the kids will enjoy, you too on a lovely sunny day! The Old Dairy, across the yard from the cottage, has been kitted out for walkers for drying outdoor clothes and a place to keep your boots!

About 3 miles from the Roman town of Cirencester, River Cottage is quietly situated in a courtyard setting. It lies in a secluded village in the Duntisbourne Valley which is perhaps one of the prettiest valleys in the Cotswolds with its Saxon village church. There are wonderful views over unspoilt countryside, enjoyable long or short walks including part of the Macmillan Way, a truly peaceful haven.

An excellent and comfortable base for touring the Cotswolds. Central for Cheltenham, Gloucester, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold.

Ground floor: Sitting room with two sofas, a wooden rocking chair, huge wood burner, coffee table, lamps, side table, TV, coat hooks and a shoe rack. This leads through to the kitchen with a dining table for 4 and stacks of pretty crockery, pots and pans etc.

First floor: Double/twin bedroom (please advise at the time of booking your preference) and a twin bedroom both with bedside tables and lamps, wardrobes and built in cupbaord in one, chest of drawers, clothes racks, bathroom with a bath and shower over, hand basin, wc.

About this location

The Cotswolds region

From Windsor to the Welsh Borders our area offers a taste of what was and what is...fabulous properties of historic and architectural interest that sit alongside pretty tea rooms, gastro pubs, shops, restaurants etc etc!

In a simply stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are the Cotswolds with the unique honey-coloured stone, ancient woodlands and miles of rolling hills and over 3,000 miles of public footpaths. The rivers Windrush and Coln trickle their way through some of the prettiest Cotswold towns and villages you will ever come across, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury. Royal Berkshire and the Thames Valley are on the doorstep of the Capital. Stay in Windsor (with a royal neighbour!), be close to Henley-on-Thames famous for Henley Regatta or walk The Thames Path as the river meanders through rural villages, historic towns and peaceful water meadows before it reaches the Thames Barrier in the heart of London. From your 'own' front door you can explore the contrasts of Worcestershire, Herefordshire & Shropshire. Visit the theatres at Stratford-upon-Avon, walk the Ridgeway Path from the Thames in the west through to the atmospheric Chiltern Hills.

Our towns and villages optimise the English rural scene...cricket on the green, a glass of locally brewed beer, peace and quiet - lovely!

Cirencester

On the Macmillan Way is the rural village of Duntisbourne Rouse, perhaps one of the prettiest villages in the southern Cotswolds. The trickling ford across the river Dunt is a feature of the village as is the Saxon church of St Michael which overlooks the Dunt Valley. Just 3 miles from the Roman town of Cirencester, 13 from the spa town of Cheltenham and 10 from the cathedral city of Gloucester, this quiet village is in a truly historical spot!

"Lovely place, really relaxing"

River Cottage was in an excellent location for us - 10 minutes from Cirencester, 30 minutes from Cheltenham, yet really rural and secluded. Lovely walks direct from the cottage, which was extremely we… More
