If you're tired of the rat-race, long for some peace, quiet, comfort and luxury in the stunning countryside, then this is the holiday destination for you!

Recently renovated in 2013 and launched in May, Apsley Cottage offers the discerning traveller a truly memorable holiday with an incredibly warm homely atmosphere and an enormous Welcome Basket to start the trip off with a treat..

Personally redesigned by The Countess Bathurst, no expense has been spared with the satisfaction of the traveller in mind. From the underfloor heating throughout to the gentle décor, everything has been chosen to offer tranquillity and calm, where every visitor will feel totally at home from the moment they step through the door.

Sleeping up to 6 (2 doubles and a single with extra pull out bed), this idyllic little cottage has a whole list of luxurious detail, even down to the Eco-friendly ground sourced heating system that keeps the house snug and the water piping hot.

The bedrooms, (The Blue Room - double; The Lavender Room - double; The Red Room - single with pull out) are quaint and cosy and the gorgeous bathroom offers a roll-top slipper bath with shower attachment in which to soak away any fatigue or stress. Soft fluffy towels are provided and the beds carefully selected for their comfort and good night's sleep. The linen is all Egyptian cotton and the duvets and pillows are anti-allergy.

Downstairs is spacious and open-plan, leading from the snug sitting room with the wood-burner and squishy sofa, to the dining room and finally through to the carefully designed kitchen, where cooks will be enticed to create magnificence under the wonderful skylight.

With free WiFi available throughout, televisions with DVD players in all the rooms, (as well as iPod docks) there is also excellent access to the outside world and media (if required!).

During the summer months, the enormous south-facing terrace becomes a fabulous sun-trap, enjoying the rays from morning to sunset. And while everyone has their sundowner and enjoys the spectacular views - dinner can be prepared on the in-built barbecue made with local stone and locally forged grills.

For those who don't fancy cooking, there are two wonderful pubs within walking distance, The Bell at Sapperton and The Daneway - with excellent menus & fabulous local brews, offering a welcome to families, and they're also pet friendly!

The garden is spacious and has a full bordering fence line, so children can play happily, and there is plenty of off-road parking.

Apsley Cottage offers an idyllic location for any traveller to enjoy, and with its close proximity to a plethora of Cotswold beauty spots, walks, historical sites, shopping, market towns, as well as year-round activities and events there is something to please everyone. In particular, Cirencester Park Polo Club is just down the road - and as a special treat, Lady Bathurst has organised membership* for her guests for the duration of their stay. A wonderful opportunity to see this exciting equestrian sport.

So, whether visiting alone, as a couple, as a group, or with the whole family, (even the dog!), the sheer peace of the quiet Cotswold village of Sapperton (made famous for its involvement in the 'Arts & Crafts' movement), will bring nothing but relaxation and enjoyment, while exploring all the region has to offer.

In the words of one happy family:

'Beyond a doubt, one of the loveliest & most welcoming cottages that we have ever stayed in (& we've stayed in a lot!). From the warm welcome on arrival, the basket of delicious local goodies, the cosiness of the rooms, to the complete attention to detail that cannot do anything but make any family feel at home and relaxed. The walks around Sapperton on a sunny Spring day were loved by all. This is a very special place. Thank you for all you have done to make us feel so welcome. Our children also made some lovely friends on the village green!'

Lady Bathurst looks forward to welcoming you to a very special place - one to which you will definitely want to return!

The Central England/Cotswolds region

The Cotswolds has been one of the most popular inland regions for generations - easily recognised by its stunning Cotswold Stone architecture and rolling green countryside, it transports the visitor back to a bygone era of tranquility and peace, where life was taken at a much gentler pace - the perfect recipe for a wonderful holiday! .

Within easy reach of the major motorways between the M5 and M4, and only five miles from the larger town of Cirencester one side - and Stroud the other - Apsley Cottage is perfectly situated for quiet & relaxation, whilst still giving easy access to shopping and entertainment.

With so many events throughout the year around The Cotswolds, there is a whole host of activities and sporting events to attend, whether it's polo in Cirencester Park, (membership for the season of polo at Cirencester is included for the duration of visitors stay) racing at Cheltenham, Badminton Horse Trials, or the huge choice of different festivals and shows each year (including Lord and Lady Bathurst's own Cotswold Show at Cirencester Park every July), or The International Air Tattoo at Fairford, there really is something for everyone - to say nothing of the wonderful array of local pubs, restaurants and picturesque villages and towns for shopping - all within a 30 mile radius.

So whether visiting in the balmy, warm summer months - or the cooler winter months, Apsley Cottage is the idyllic destination for anyone who loves the British countryside and all it has to offer.

Cirencester

Apsley Cottage is unique in many ways. Owned and managed personally by The Countess Bathurst, rarely is it possible to stay in one of the Cotswolds prettiest villages and one which is located within one of the area's finest Country Estates, The Bathurst Estate.

Compromising of 15,000 acres of stunning Cotswold countryside, it includes the stately home of Cirencester Park, located in the heart of Cirencester and home to The Earl & Countess Bathurst, as well as Cirencester Park Polo Club - one of the oldest clubs in the country.

Sapperton is a traditional village with wonderfully classic Cotswold buildings and it overlooks the old Thames and Severn canal, which includes The Sapperton Tunnel, the longest canal tunnel in the country. While the canal itself is no longer in operation, visitors will be able to wander along the towpath, stopping in for refreshment at either of the two superb village pubs - The Bell and The Daneway (both of which make dogs welcome) - equally steeped in history!

Surrounded by endless choices of walking routes, Apsley Cottage is a country-lovers paradise!

Sapperton itself is an important village in terms of the 'Arts & Crafts Movement' the architectural and design movement at the turn of the 20th Century - made famous by Ernest Grimson and the brothers Ernest and Sidney Barnsley (Ernest Barnsley's daughter, Elizabeth, actually lived in Apsley Cottage itself for nearly 50 years!).

Today it retains much of its Cotswold appeal and, thanks to the two village pubs, is often the host to a number of A list celebs, including Damien Hirst, Liz Hurley and a smattering of members of The British Royal Family.

""I'm in heaven !""

A wonderful rental cottage, a real home from home with everything & more one could want ! A lovely welcome and super hamper awaits you. A beautifully refurbished home containing every requirement you could possibly need or want, the air filled with the scent of jugs of flowers everywhere, a dog basket fit for a king ( or in our case our puppy Bramble ) a super kitchen, superb patio & built in bbq, a warm, cosy, comfortable living room, 3 beautiful bedrooms... with the attention to detail in the cottage exemplary. Dear Patricia - it was a complete joy to have you and your family (and little Bramble, who we adored!) with us. Thank you for such a lovely review and we so look forward to welcoming you all back. Soon!
