Wilton Cottage
About the home
Wilton Cottage is a thoroughly traditional Cotswold Cottage, situated in a beautiful and very attractive location overlooking the River Coln. Located on a quiet lane within the village of Ablington and surrounded by some of the Cotswolds' finest scenery this lovely holiday cottage offers a truly classic experience, with an open fire, mullion windows and many more traditional features. Internally the cottage has a cosy and welcoming feel, particularly in the open plan ground floor, where the open fire certainly adds to the atmosphere. The cottage has a garden to the side and rear (*see below) and of particular appeal is a little bench at the front of the house which is simply perfect for enjoying the surroundings.
As you would expect there is a lovely view towards the river and fields beyond. The village of Ablington is located a mile from Bibury and its traditional pubs, which is considered one of the most attractive villages in the Cotswolds, and also a short drive from Cirencester and its many shops. This is a lovely cottage, in an 'unrivalled' position and a great choice for friends and family alike to enjoy.

Widely renowned for its rolling hills, beautiful countryside with woodlands and quaint streams it is quintessentially English. Also boasting historic market towns and limestone villages it is like stepping back over 300 years.
The Cirencester / Bibury area
Ablington is a traditional Cotswolds village (hamlet) situated approximately 1 mile outside the historic Bibury and its National Trust 'Arlington Row'. The River Coln runs through the area and is a simply idyllic location with walks in all directions. Ablington was once the home of J. Arthur Gibbs; the reknowned author of 'A Cotswold Village', a classic book about the persuit of Cotswold country life in the closing years of the 19th century. Nearby is Ablington House, a beautiful 17th century building complete with gateposts surmounted by lions which once graced the Houses of Parliament.
Cirencester is approximately 5 miles away with a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. Further afield are a host of Cotswolds attractions including the Cotswold Lakes and Cotswold Wildlife Park plus many classic villages/towns such as Burford, Stow on the Wold, Tetbury and Bourton on the Water.
