EXTENDED FAMILY? This is Ideal for your large gathering of the generations. You are in 5 star Gold Award luxury in peaceful and beautiful Cotswold countryside but with easy access to lots of interesting places to visit. The barns each have enclosed south gardens and on the farm there are short or longer walks with ducks to feed and wildlife to observe.
-BIG BIRTHDAY coming up? there's room for the extended family here...and if its
too many to cook for, you can always hire our LOCAL CHEF for the night.
Its also possible to become temporary members of Westonbirt Sports Centre one mile away for access to their super new indoor swimming pool

There is ample parking in the yard. some undercover.
-A games room with table tennis and snooker.
-Walks by the moat but the water is deep and children must be supervised.
-In the house you will find a map and clear directions for short and longer walks on the farm or to the local pub.

-For rental of the 2 barns together we require a housekeeping deposit of £200 before arrival to cover for damages. This is usually returned within a week of your holiday if the property has been cared for.
-Our changeover day is usually a Friday.
The tariff qu0ted is for 17 people; we make a charge of £40 per person extra using the sofa beds -up to 4 more.

The Central England / Cotswolds / Gloucestershire region

Tetbury is in the cotswold area of outstanding natural beauty and the landscape is a combination of rolling pasture land famous for its dry stone walls. The walls and roofs of barns and cottages have always been built with the local stone and, as a result, seem to grow out of the land.

There are stately homes to visit like Chavenage as well as pretty villages with rows of stone cottages like those in Minchinhampton, Easton grey or Tetbury's Chipping Steps. The famous Cotswold Way, a 5 day walking trail that passes within 7 miles of Tetbury, is quite stunning with its views over sheep- grazed valleys into villages like Uley and Horsley and eventually into the wonderful crescents and terraces of the Georgian city of Bath.

The Cirencester / Tetbury area

Beautiful buildings and farmland combine easily around these two 2 market towns which are less than 10 minutes from Doughton. 40 minutes away is either Bath, Bristol, or Cheltenham. Each very popular for shopping ,sight -seeing,concerts and theatre, but each also has something unique: Cheltenham, its famous racing festival in March, Bristol, the SS Great Britain and wonderful children's museums (@Bristol) and Bath, the newly refurbished Roman Baths and tea rooms made famous by Jane Austen's novels.

The National Arboretum at Westonbirt [3 mins drive] is a wonderful place to spend the day in every season of the year.
Visit the Abbey Gardens in Malmesbury, wonderful in late summer and autumn and the Badminton International Horse Trials[10 minutes drive] are held in the grounds of the Duke of Beaufort's well- run country estate, in May.

Fly to Bristol for easyjet flights, or Heathrow is just up the M4; From there you can catch a direct bus (National Express) to Cirencester on the Cheltenham route. We are 12 miles from Cirencester. Or come by train from London Paddington to Kemble (7 miles away and linked to Tetbury by bus).

“An outstanding place to stay” Our third visit and we would still go back again. Hired both cottages for our large gathering of friends and their family (and dog). “The most fantastic setting for a large group to relax in” Two properties which can be rented together or separately but for a large group, they work well as one with the large living/dining/kitchen in The Pantiles. We were 14 in total but a few more would not have been a problem. Little enclosed gardens very good if you have a dog. Cleanliness and comfort could not be faulted throughout. We ate together as a large group and found the kitchen equipment, crockery, glassware etc did not lack. We totally loved the relaxing atmosphere and styling of the barns and surrounds from the moment we arrived, our hosts were very friendly and helpful but never too present. So much to do and see in the area and Tetbury is a delight. Waitrose delivery works well - don't forget the emergency pint of milk for tea as you wait for it to arrive. Chef recommended on the website did a good job and was extremely reasonable. Had a little difficulty finding the turnoff from the main road without SatNav. I really hope I will get a chance to stay here again.

“Outstanding barn in beautiful countryside” Perfect for a large group with a wonderful communal space with a roaring fire which is set up by the owners and with infinite supplies of wood from the estate. A beautiful place in very smart condition with excellent power showers and lovely clean kitchen facilities. We really couldn't have asked for more. We fully intend to return again as there are so many country walks we'd like to explore from Doughton.

“Fantastic accomodation in beautiful rural setting” We stayed at Doughton Barns with family (6 adults and 4 children) for a week taking both barns. We regularly rent holiday accomodation and we were extremely impressed with both these properties. Furnishings and amenities are top notch and there is plenty of space to spread out. The main dining table is huge and great for dinner parties. The barns are in a tranquil setting next to an old manor house with a number of good walks right from the front door with a numbe rof other places of interest within a short drive. The owners are very welcoming (even leaving a freshly baked cake upon our arrival) and accomodating (organised a babysitter for us for an evening) and there are even friendly dogs that will join you for a walk if you want them to. When asked to complete a review at the end of our stay we really couldn't think of anything negative to say. Highly recommended. Response: Thank you very much fopr your super review. It makes us even more keen to keep it always as good.
