Home description
Shingle Cove is an exotic property comprising 3 separate villas with a total of 6 bedrooms each with en suite bathroom. It sits in a private cove on the Caribbean Sea. Lush grounds and modern furnishings make it ideal for a honeymoon, family holiday or a large group of friends. It doesn't matter how many people are in your group - anywhere from a honeymoon couple to 12 friends - the property is yours alone for the period of your stay. Our rates vary depending on numbers so please ask for a quotation tailored to meet your own specific needs.
The main house sits up above the cove, overlooking the ocean. On the front of the house, facing the cove, is a large open verandah which has a lounging area and is also the main dining area. There is a large kitchen with an adjoining utility room, a study area, lounge and 2 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and dressing rooms.
The Pool house lies behind the freshwater swimming pool area directly on the ocean front. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms. Each bedroom has 2 single beds and a large balcony which overlooks the pool and the ocean. Downstairs is another larger suite, with bathroom, kitchenette and a patio adjoining the pool.
The Hill Cottage sits nestled on the hill among the coconut trees. It has a double bedroom, an en suite bathroom, a kitchenette and a porch with a spectacular view of the sea and passing ships.
Magnificent westward views of the sea, sunsets and passing ships are afforded from large balconies and verandahs. The lush, tropical grounds have an abundance of fruit trees and flowers. The wooden decked pool area has a built-in barbecue and private thatched bar, making the area perfect for lunch or evening ocean front dining.

The Castries region
St.Lucia manages to strike a perfect balance between being unspoiled yet at the same time offering the visitor plenty to do. You can play tennis or golf, snorkel or scuba diving or go horseback-riding. You can take excursions to local banana or cocoa plantations; go on a tour of a rum factory or an old sugar cane plantation; go on expeditions to nearby waterfalls, sulphur springs and hot baths, or to the botanical gardens and drive-in volcano.
You can visit Pigeon Island Museum where lookouts once directed ferocious sea battles between the French and British fleets; go for a hike in the lush tropical rain forests in search of the elusive St. Lucia wild parrot; visit a quiet fishing village; or just, lunch and relax in places of exquisite natural beauty and tranquillity.
St. Lucia is a major charter boat centre and there is also an extraordinary range of other boating and marine activities available. You can take a boat trip from Castries to Soufriere, at the south end of the island, on one of at least 10 different types of vessels.
Party in a Spanish Galleon with a live steel band, cruise in a luxury motor boat, a deep sea fishing boat, or sail a variety of sail boats while eating, drinking and dancing on board. While in Soufriere, visit the famous twin Pitons and the drive-in volcano.
Take a diving expedition or a tour of the coast and Marigot Bay. While there have lunch at Doolittles, site of the Rex Harrison movie, "Dr. Doolittle." There are sailing trips to Martinique and around the island; you can rent jet skis, hobie cats, scuba diving equipment; go water skiing, sports fishing, wind surfing or riding on catamarans. Fish Friday at Anse Le Raye is a must!
Ciceron area
Shopping at a variety of local craft markets including the open air market in Castries, you can purchase items such as wood carvings, hand embroidery, ceramics and baskets. On Saturday morning, the people from the country bring their fresh produce to sell, so stock up for the week.
Visit Bagshaws for island-made brightly coloured silk-screened fabrics and garments, or Windjammers for local made cotton wear. For the serious shopper, the Point Seraphine and Place Carenage duty free shopping comnplexes have over 20 shops at each location.
Explore the local night life at Rodney Bay, including restaurants specializing in everything from Creole to French cuisine, or check out the numerous bars and discos. Don't miss the legendary "Jump Up" every Friday night at Gros Islet where the whole island seems to celebrate to lively Reggae rhythms until the early hours. In this gingerbread village you can walk from `rum shop' to `rum shop' sampling the local "strong" rum while eating lambie (conch), barbecued chicken, floats (fried dumplings) or fish cakes.

Rosie, our cook, is marvellous! She knows what to buy and how to prepare all the native Creole delicacies. You buy the food and she will cook it. She will discuss your menu choices when you arrive.
Matthew, the gardener, will be happy to give you a tour of the grounds and pick fruit and flowers for you. He will also guide you up the small stream beside the property to the wild bromiliad flowers.
Diane is our housekeeper, she will make your beds each day and ensure that all is clean and tidy.
Shingle Cove is under the watchful eye of our private security guard, who works for St Lucia's largest security company MIB (Men In Black). He will be on duty from 6pm until 7 am for the comfort of our guests.
Further details outdoors: Shingle Cove is lush and tropical, with an abundance of flowers and fruit trees. Hibiscus, bougainvillea, ginger lily, birds of paradise and other flowers of many colours flourish on the grounds. Mango, avocado, Barbados cherry, breadfruit, soursop, banana, pineapple, dashine, sweet potato, sour orange, ginger and many other varieties of fruits and vegetables are in season at different times.
A fresh water swimming pool sits just feet from the ocean's side and is a beautiful spot from which to watch the Caribbean sunsets.
The sandy beach in the centre of the cove is just below and the cove itself is surrounded by rock cliffs. The snorkelling, in and around the cove and the rocky reefs further out, is some of the best in St. Lucia with its tropical fish, sea fans, and sponges. The caves and the stone arch are just around the corner.
