Home description
Nestling at the base of Long Mynd, Shepherds Cottage offers traditional-style accommodation for up to 4 people. Exposed beams harken back to the cottage’s original character and there are truly breathtaking views of the local countryside to be had from its windows. The garden is secluded and offers the perfect opportunities for barbeques and outdoor-dining.
Local shops and the local pub are a mere 10-minute walk from Shepherds Cottage, and its detached status ensures that you can enjoy privacy or the bustle of a small town whenever you feel like it. The cottage is situated next to a bridle path that leads to the Carding Mill Valley and there are horse-riding opportunities available nearby, as well as mountain-biking and walking.

The Heart of England / Peak District / Shropshire region
Shropshire delights with its variety. Whether exploring the castle, narrow streets or fine dining of Ludlow, strolling by the river in medieval Shrewsbury or discovering delightful Church Stretton, Bridgnorth or Bishops Castle, you can be assured of plenty to see and sample. Even the museums and attractions are wide ranging; from the industrial investigations to ecologically informative nature centres, and even the chance to step back in time and visit a working Victorian village.
Even the landscape alters, from the hills, heaths and deep wooded valleys of the Welsh borderlands to the magnificent, moorland scenery of the Long Mynd, while the beautiful Teme, Clu, Corve and Onny valleys host an amazing variety of wildlife. You can even take a walk on the wild side among the legendary Stiperstones, at Wenlock Edge and within the stunning Clee Hills.
Church Stretton area
Due to the alpine-like hills and valleys which surround the village, Church Stretton has been christened ‘Little Switzerland’ and retains the feel of a spa town to this day, the natural springs providing Stretton mineral water. Nestling below the rugged beauty of Long Mynd, Church Stretton is the first town in Shropshire to achieve the ‘Walkers Welcome’ status, also holding its own Walking Festival in June.
Nearby, the National Trust operates a shuttle-bus service from the local railway station, offering the beauty of the panorama from the top of Long Mynd without the exertion! The hills are literally alive with the sound of music each year at the Church Stretton and South Shropshire Arts Festival which attracts musicians and artists from across the country.

"Beautiful location and helpful owner." -Mr Sawyer, London, January 2009

"Surrounding area and location of cottage. We have stayed at this particular cottage several times now and can not fault it. It is a home from home and very cosy." -Mrs Thomas, Leicester, Leicestershire December 2008
