The West Country / Dorset region

Christchurch is within easy reach of the New Forest National Park which has dedicated walking and cycling routes and boasts many picturesque villages. The quaint town of Lymington with its Quay and Harbour is just a short drive away. From here you can also take the ferry to the Isle of Wight where you can browse the charming harbour town of Yarmouth or take a ride around the island on the open top bus.
Bournemouth with its enlivened atmosphere, excellent shops and beautiful gardens is only five miles away and in the summer an open top bus -which can be caught near the house- runs along the cliff top.West Dorset is the heart of Thomas Hardy country and its rolling countryside boasts two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with its vibrant market towns such as Dorchester, there is plenty to discover.
The Christchurch Town area
Christchurch is famous for its magnificent Priory Church which dominates the Priory Quarter; the older part of the town with its many cosy cafe`s and fine restaurants. The Quay and waterside walks contribute towards Christchurch's unique character. There is an interesting programme of festivals and events throughout the summer and held on a Monday, the town boasts the largest all year street market on the south coast.
Christchurch has a large natural harbour which can be enjoyed from the water, as a variety of ferry trips and boat excursions are available and some depart only 300 metres from the house.
The ancient headland of Hengistbury Head forms a natural barrier between the harbour and the open sea and leads to Mudeford Sandbank with its attractively painted beach huts and outstanding beaches. You won't have to go far either to enjoy open heathland, wildflower meadows and natural coastline.

This was our return visit to Spinnaker House and once again had a delightful time. The house is perfectly placed to visit shops and the church, both within walking distance. The river, which is a short walk away is full of boats available to hire. Christchurch is close to several beaches, Boscombe, Bournemouth and just a short ride away Mudeford. The town has several eating places but we took a short car ride to Burton and Sopley to find restaurants. |

Spinnakers is an ideal location for walking into Christchurch town centre, with it all it's shops and the historic Priory. The owner is very helpful and customer friendly. The house is well maintained and well equipped, we have used the house before and it very much suited our needs and would not hesitate to return. |

We found this accommodation to be so much more than we expected. More than enough space to accommodate two families (3 adults and two childrent) in a location which would suit us as for a week's holiday and also be within easy reach for a family reunion in Bournemouth. As soon as we walked through the door we felt so at home, largely due to the clean and spacious layout of the rooms and it being well equipped throughout. Within easy walking distance of Christchurch's lovely quayside and beautiful surrounding walks and coastline not to the mention the New Forest just a few miles away. We found the owner Albert Proctor to be extremely helpful and we were supplied with an abundance of information to help us enjoy our stay. We hope to come back and stay again very soon. |
