Home description

One of Bournemouth's best kept secrets, Wick village is a lovely, peaceful hamlet offering walks along the River Stour which winds its way into Christchurch harbour, and bracing walks onto the headland of Hengistbury. At the same time Bay Trees Cottage is only minutes from the sandy & popular beaches of Southbourne in Bournemouth Bay and all that this popular beach resort has to offer. Christchurch, just across the river from the cottage, is an historic town with its famous Priory and shops, weekly market and festivals. The New Forest is also only a short drive, and offers endless walks, cycle & horseriding routes and a chance to see the wild ponies which are allowed by ancient law to roam at will.
Bay Trees cottage is one of the original Wick Farm cottages, and has been tastefully modernised to make your holiday stay enjoyable and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, lounge & sun room and a secluded garden with patio. You can easily walk to the beach, to the harbour and to Christchurch (via the walk on ferry which operates daily from Easter to October to take you across the River Stour).
Long term lets are available on this property please contact us for more details.

The West Country / Dorset region

Dorset is the most accessible part of the West Country from London and Europe, and yet is still one of the most rural counties in England. West Dorset is Thomas Hardy country, with rolling hills, fields and the rugged Jurassic coastline where fossil hunting continues to add to our understanding of the dinosaur age.
East Dorset contains the majestic Poole harbour, the second largest natural harbour in the world which inspired Enid Blyton to write many of her adventure stories & where every watersport is available, the world renowned beaches of Poole & Bournemouth, some of the cleanest in Britain, and the New Forest, Britain's latest National park, stretching from Ringwood in the West to Lymington & Southampton in the East

Christchurch Town / Wick Village area

Christchurch - Priory, shops, weekly market on Monday, Food festival in May, Stomping the Quomps in August
Bournemouth - Pier, Eye (tethered Hot air balloon), Winter Gardens, fireworks every Friday in Summer, concerts in the park, beaches,
Poole - Water park, harbour cruises, watersports hire, outdoor Shakespeare in the Summer on Brownsea Island
