The Larnaca region
Home to Cyprus' largest and brand new international airport, Larnaca is less than 30 minutes' drive away and is a bustling coastal resort. It is the third largest town on the island and its palm-tree lined sea front promenade has many cafes and bars and hosts a stunning marina and a daily local market. Mackenzie Beach at Larnaca is also a "must" with its large sandy and gently shelving beach and adjoining restaurants.
Gemstone Village is situated just on the edge of the historical village of Choirokoitia (also spelt Khirokitia), a UNESCO World Heritage site founded 7 Millennium BC. The local village has a traditional Cypriot charm with meandering, pretty streets as well as convenient facilities such as a village shop, post office and bars. The village is also conveniently situated between the three large cities of Cyprus; Nicosia, Larnaca, and Limassol, all of which are accessible by car within 25-30 minutes, and nearby beaches. This scenic village is the perfect location for enjoying the best of both worlds, exploring the tourist attractions that Cyprus has to offer, whilst providing a relaxing retreat in a peaceful location.
The local blue flag Governor's Beach, with its sweeping sandy beach and restaurants, is around 10 minutes' drive from Choirokoitia. Alternatively, you might want to try scuba-diving, horse riding, fishing, cycling or a trip to see traditional local activities such as olive-pressing. The many local nature trail walks are a wonderful way to enjoy the picturesque views or a wander through the paved streets of Choirokoitia will leave you admiring the characteristic houses of the area. The village of Zygi is also around ten minutes drive away, and here you will find stunning deep blue sea and the excellent seafood tavernas it is famed for. Agios Minas Monastery and the historic village of Lefkara with its beautiful embroidery and lace-making are also nearby.
Limassol, the island's largest seaside resort, boasts a wide range of tavernas, restaurants and shops. It has a Medieval Castle, local galleries, and is famous for its wine production. You may also want to take a cruise from there to the Holy Land or the Greek islands. Just outside of Limassol, you will find Fasouri Watermania, which offers the largest selection of water slides and attractions in Cyprus.
Nicosia is the largest city in Cyprus with a modern city centre, tree-lined avenues and a lovely Old Quarter. The city is full of restaurants and clubs, has excellent shopping facilities (e.g. IKEA, Debenhams, Carrefour) and is now the only divided city in the world.
There are several excellent golf courses in Cyprus, most of which are situated in scenic hillside locations.
The Troodos mountain range are well worth a visit and the stunning Mount Olympus (1,952m) can be reached in around an hour, where during the winter months of February and March you can ski on one of the three ski slopes. Hilltop villages full of vineyards and Byzantine churches make this a popular day trip when you need a rest from the beach, so if you want peace and tranquility, going for long walks, bird-watching or cycling in pine-scented forests this is for you.

"Almost Excellent holiday"
The villa is situated in Chirokitia. Chirokitia is not as pretty as other Cypriot villages and the scenery not as pretty as places like lets say Latchi Paphos. Have this in mind before booking. Once you are fine with this you will find a beautiful villa (part of a quite large villa/flat complex) , modern, spacious exceptionally well furnished and equiped. Audio visuals are average but the kitchen ficilities and utensils exceptional. The private pool is tiny but there is a nice large common pool to share with other quests of the complex. The bedrooms are spacious BUT BE WARNED there is a system that stops the AC every two hours. If sleeping in hot and humid summer cy weather is no problem to you then this is no big deal. If however you wish to enjoy uninterupted sleep for you and your kids when on holiday this may prove a spoiler. Owners are polite and very friendly. Overall a great place for holiday that i recomend especially to families with kids
Over the last 3 years that our guests have been enjoying Villa Christina for holiday rentals, we've received very positive feedback and have continued to invest in the property to make sure our guests are completely satisfied. We're therefore disappointed when we receive only a “good” rating (our first) rather than “excellent”.
Just to respond to the points raised by our guest, we personally find Choirokoitia a very pretty, typically Cypriot village, with flower strewn, cobbled streets and very friendly local villagers. In our opinion, it is unspoilt by some of the commerciality of larger resorts such as Latchi and yet is perfectly situated on the island. Its central location allows guests to reach major centres such as Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca within less than half an hour whilst being nice and close to a variety of beaches, pretty villages and restaurants.
We have invested heavily in the equipment at the villa, with audio visual equipment including TV, DVD, CD, radio and iPod player, as well as free, unlimited wireless internet. The private pool is 5m long and so many of our guests have welcomed the opportunity to cool off within the surrounds of the villa garden whilst also enjoying the fantastic communal pool facilities. The air conditioning system provides both cool and hot air on demand and is very effective. Based on our own research, the majority of holiday villas in Cyprus (many of which charge extra for A/C use, whilst we do not) appear to use a timer system as this has a number of benefits – not least, it prevents the A/C units burning out through being left on 24/7 with doors and windows open (as some guests would prefer). As part of our continuing investment, we are installing brand new ceiling fans in all of the bedrooms and main living area before the end of 2012 to ensure the continuing comfort of our guests.
We accept that our guests may have differing needs but we seem to succeed in pleasing by far the vast majority. We would be more than happy to discuss any of these points with anyone who is considering staying at Villa Christina.

"MET OUR EXPECTATIONS IN EVERY RESPECT"
Booking was easy and the information provided was thorough. The Villa is large, comfortable and very well equipped. The communal pools were excellent and the children's playground was a useful bonus. Travelling to neighbouring towns is easy as the motorway is easily and quickly accessible. I would not hesitate to recommend Villa Christina for a stay in Cyprus.
I would also endorse the recommendations of the nearby Rainbow Restaurant.

"Fantastic location, beautiful villa!"
An amazing villa with fantastic views in an ideal location for exploring Cyprus.
A number of beautiful beaches, historic sights and spectacular mountain views all within 20 minutes drive as well as an easy drive to both the airport and some of the larger towns/cities.
The villa is beautiful; spacious and very comfortable with great views. The communal pool area is lovely and clean and gets the sun throughout the day. The villa also provides wifi and a good selection of DVD's in case the weather isn't perfect (only a day and a half during our entire stay - in April!).
Would certainly recommend the Rainbow restaurant round the corner for very friendly service and (huge portions of) local food, and for fish lovers the 'Santa Helena' restaurant opposite the church in the small town of Zygi (15 minutes drive). We had an amazing evening there with more fantastic local fish dishes than we could manage.
We were a mixed group of friends and family all in our late 20's and 30's party but the villa would provide an excellent base for families or a variety of groups with differing holiday agendas.
Thanks for a wonderful stay!
