The Paphos District
Cyprus boasts a unique climate, mild winters and hot dry summers. Average daytime temperatures in Winter are around 12-15 C and 26-29 C in Summer. Cyprus enjoys approx 340 sunny days a year and the sun shines for an average of 11 hours a day, ideal for sailing, hiking, diving, and golf, very rarely does the weather interfere in Cyprus....and if it does, its never for very long. While snow is very rare on the central plain and coast, snowfall occurs every year between December and April in areas with an altitude exceeding 1000m. The higher slopes of the Troodos mountains provide good skiing conditions for about 6 weeks a year.
Cyprus has two international airports, Larnaca to the North and Paphos to the South, both are approximately 4 hours flying time from the UK. There are currently over 40 airlines operating some 260 flights per week with the frequency and cost continuously improving. The modern motorways linking the larger towns are excellent, and petrol costs roughly half its UK equivalent price. Driving is on the left as in the UK making the car an easy and cheap means of travel. Public transport is also cheap and efficient.
