Keen's Cottage (C503)
Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Keen's Cottage is a charming 18th century Cotswold stone cottage in the unspoilt village of Kingham - once named England's Favourite Village!
The cottage is quite lovely and lends itself well to some of the finer things in life having been fully refurbished and renovated to a very high standard. The modern kitchen, which is amply equipped for comfortable living, leads through to the conservatory that makes for a very nice dining room with table and chairs that can comfortably seat 6 - perfect for all year round entertaining. The sitting room is quite elegant and has been furnished with locally made upholsted furniture and William Morris print fabrics. The underfloor heating is supported by a wood burning stove that sits in a large inglenook fireplace adding to the character of this lovely room.
The enclosed courtyard garden (with furniture) is private and sheltered and can be a little sun-trap at times!
Kingham with a gastro pub and a well stocked local shop is on the mainline for London, Oxford and Worcester making it ideally situated for touring. Very central base in the Cotswolds with Stratford-upon-Avon, Blenheim Palace, Oxford or Cheltenham within a leisurely drive. Local restaurants and pubs in the market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton are just a few miles away.

The Central England/Cotswolds region
From Windsor to the Welsh Borders our area offers a taste of what was and what is...fabulous properties of historic and architectural interest that sit alongside pretty tea rooms, gastro pubs, shops, restaurants etc etc!
In a simply stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are the Cotswolds with the unique honey-coloured stone, ancient woodlands and miles of rolling hills and over 3,000 miles of public footpaths. The rivers Windrush and Coln trickle their way through some of the prettiest Cotswold towns and villages you will ever come across, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury. Royal Berkshire and the Thames Valley are on the doorstep of the Capital. Stay in Windsor (with a royal neighbour!), be close to Henley-on-Thames famous for Henley Regatta or walk The Thames Path as the river meanders through rural villages, historic towns and peaceful water meadows before it reaches the Thames Barrier in the heart of London. From your 'own' front door you can explore the contrasts of Worcestershire, Herefordshire & Shropshire. Visit the theatres at Stratford-upon-Avon, walk the Ridgeway Path from the Thames in the west through to the atmospheric Chiltern Hills.
Our towns and villages optimise the English rural scene...cricket on the green, a glass of locally brewed beer, peace and quiet - lovely!
Situated in the Evenlode Valley, Kingham was once voted 'England's prettiest village', well deserved some would say! Truly a Cotswold village with a local pub, wine bar, well stocked local shop and the village green. Served by the local bus from Chipping Norton for the train station just a mile away (London/Paddington on the Hereford line). Kingham is unspoilt with many thatched cottages and period houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
