The Central England/Cotswolds region
Bluebell Cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the wonderful Cotswolds, the little villages and heritage estates such as Blenheim Palace. Children will love the Cotswold Water Park or the Model Village and wildlife sanctuaries..... or you could just walk the beautiful footpaths around the Great Tew Estate on the doorstep of the cottage and call into the world famous Falkland Arms pub to enjoy some great food and local beers. You may even find live folk music on some evenings.
Of course, the pretty little village café offers great coffee or tea, sandwiches or home made meals during the day. On a Friday and Saturday night the café is transformed into a lively Italian restaurant with lovely fresh food and good old carafes of wine to add to the atmosphere. This is a must!
Peace and quiet at all other times with no through traffic, Great Tew is one of the prettiest villages in England. Thatched roofs on most of the cottages above the local stone walls, golden in the sunlight.
For the fishermen, this area is a trout fishing mecca with chalk streams, lakes and rivers surrounding the whole Cotswold region, day tickets available at most times in season.
Golfers may be spoilt for choice with plenty of options within a short drive of the cottage.
But just taking it easy, enjoying the environment and drinking in everything that this area has to offer really does take some beating!
Great Tew is only a short hop from the pretty market town of Chipping Norton that has plenty of interesting little shops and restaurants in the little lanes and streets. Venturing.further into the Cotswolds lovely villages such as Bourton on the Water and Broadway are within easy reach.
Try the Mount pub at Stanton for some great food and the best views in the whole area.
Of course for serious shopping, Banbury is only a short drive away and offers all the big supermarkets and stores, if you really feel compelled to re-enter the 21st Century! And the famous Bicester Village shopping centre full of designer outlets is not much further away!
