The Central England/Cotswolds region

April Cottage is surrounded by the rolling hills of the North Cotswolds, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ideally situated with Chipping Campden (3 miles) and Stratford upon Avon (8 miles) and closeby there are many beautiful small villages to explore.

The village of Micketon lies immediately beneath the Cotswold edge overlooked by Meon Hill. With a mixture of attractive Cotswold stone houses and cottages in addition to those of thatch and half-timber, it is the most northerly of the Cotswold villages. The oldest part of St Lawrence’s Church is Norman, dating from the 12 century and has been added to and restored since.

In the village there are four shops. A village shop with post office, a mini supermarket, the butcher and several farm stalls for fresh vegetables for the 'Foodies' amongst you.'

Also in the village are two pubs which serve meals. One of them, The Kings Arms, has its own website The other is the Butchers Arms which does very good, reasonably priced food and also food to take away.

Mickleton is also home to "The Pudding Club" at Three Ways House Hotel (as featured on BBC's Food and Drink and Holiday programmes as well as numerous other TV, radio and press articles). You do not need to be a member so why not book an evening there during your stay?

There are plenty of walks in the area, including a 30 minute hill walk to Kiftsgate Gardens and 5 minutes further on to the National Trusts’ world renowned Hidcote Gardens.

For those that enjoy cycling there is a traffic free cycle ride to Stratford –upon-Avon via 'The Greenway' and numerous quiet lanes around Mickleton to explore. Cycles can be hired from Cotswold Cycles, just 2 miles away.

With Stratford upon Avon and Shakespeare country so close, why not enjoy an evening at the theatre?

All in all April Cottage is an ideal base for your holiday

"A piece of heaven"

April Cottage is the most perfect cottage we have ever rented. The owner send us instructions on finding the key, left home made buns and some milk in the fridge which was very welcome after driving from Dublin. We never saw the owner/caretaker in the two weeks and really appreciated their complete trust in us. The garden is beautifully tended and the roses spectacular. The location beside the village church with public footpaths directly into the Cotswolds and the printed out sheets of different circular walks were wonderful for us and for our dog. The house was fitted out to a very high standard with every detail covered.

Thank you for this superb review which is much appreciated.

Our family of six (kids ages 10-17) stayed for 4 nights at April's Cottage. It was the perfect way to experience the Cotswolds. My kids couldn't get over how cozy and quaint the cottage was! The cottage's lovely "quirks" (crooked beams, small doors, old locks) were what we loved - they topped off our Cotswold experience! The bathroom & kitchen fixtures were fantastic. Enough hot water for everyone - not to mention a washer and dryer. The kitchen is more than equipped! The stone floor is heated. The church bells ring adding to the charm. We walked along the public walkways at the end of Church Lane through the fields of sheep! We were sad to kids have mentioned over and over again how much they loved this portion of our tour through Great Britain.

Tips: The small but sufficient grocery store right around the corner is open until 9 p.m.
Freeze switch is underneath in the cabinet left of the freezer - it freezes things rock solid!
Use "quick wash" cycle on the washer to get your wash done quickly and make sure you empty the condenser in the dryer!
Bigger grocery store in Morton on Marsh - this town has a "so-so" market on Tuesday...lots of buses and lots & lots of traffic!

P.S. The only improvement would be to upgrade the linens...but we found the current linens fine but headed towards the worn out stage!

Thank you - we love the cottage too!
