"A place where you can leave the real world behind and totally relax."
We were one of the first families to visit L'Eglantine when it opened in 2000, and since then we have returned on many occasions, also staying in the other properties that have more recently been lovingly restored. We were originally looking for a place to stay within the heart of the Loire Valley. What we found is indeed very special, combining an air of peace and tranquillity. It is indeed the ideal place where you can leave the real world behind and totally relax. From the moment we arrived we felt like we were staying with family. The charming owners - Mike and Linda, are delightful, friendly and offer a very sincere and spontaneous welcome. They are extremely helpful and can provide lots of information and knowledge about the area. The heated pool ( which is Mike's pride and joy ) is just great, getting the sun all day. There are many things to see and do - from a peaceful wander around Fontevraud Abbey, visiting various chateaux at Villandry, Chinon, Azay le Rideau, Langeais, Saumur, Loche, plus many more, or experience the genius of Leonardo da Vinci's inventions. There is of course the wine tasting, or for the more adventurous a trip to Futuroscope. To summarise - the gites, location, and owners could not be faulted. We'll definitely stay again in the future and would recommend it to anybody. It is fair to say that we have become somewhat addicted to the place so we simply keep going back for more !
