About the home

La Huttiere is a large converted barn in a very rural part of France, and is situated in approx 18 acres of countryside. There is ample parking and all facilities here are inclusive of the price, there are no ' hidden extra charges ' and you do not need to bring anything with you, as the Gite offers all that you may need for a relaxing
stress free holiday.
On arrival we offer you a 'welcome pack' - some goodies which are a helpful start to your holiday.
If you require shopping to be here on your arrival, just send us your list and we will get this in for you.
La Huttiere is very central for surrounding main towns, all steeped with history, which are only a short drive for sightseeing and/or shopping, and of course this is wine country ! so an abundance of good local wines to be purchased either direct from the vineyards ( taste before you buy ) or the supermarkets - all at a very good price !

Facilities

A converted barn, all rooms in the Gite are very spacious.
The bedroom configuration is a double and single bed in each of the bedrooms which are both en-suite.
the Kitchen/ dining area gives more than ample space and there are all the facilities for your requirements.
The kitchen leads out to your private patio area at the back , ideal for dining al -fresco or having a barbecue. or just lounge about and soak up the sun The sitting room area gives an ideal area to read or watch TV. there is satellite reception giving a number of UK channels. The sitting room is spacious and well furnished, and very comfortable.
The fact that we have many guests who return to us each year, and some twice a year is recomendation alone and pride for us here at La Huttiere

Further details outdoors:
Outside the Gite where you have your own private patio and garden area, is great to sit out on the lovely summer evenings and watch the magnificent sun sets, over acres of un-spoilt country side. Quite often you can spot the many types of wild deer, and wild boar, cross from one field to another,. and of course there are the many types of birds, some which are not resident in the UK so quite exciting to see them here.. Also in the evenings you can hear the different types of owl calling to each other. and in the mornings woodpeckers are abundant
There are many birds of prey of all sizes to be seen. We do not have grey squirrels so the red squirrel is always busy in the wooded area.We have approx 18 acres of land and a wooded area , which makes a nice walk.
There is a table tennis table for the energetic, and a plunge pool to cool down when needed ! We also have cycles which you are most welcome to use
Although we are very rural , it is only a few minutes drive to the Chateau and market town of Le Lude and you do not have to worry about parking, as there is a very large area to park your car in front of the Gite.

We like to keep the changeover days to each Saturday which makes it easier for all
No smoking in the Gite please, but no problem outside.
The times of arrival and departure are : Arrive from 3.00 pm onwards, and depart by 10.00 am
This allows the Gite to be fully serviced and ready for your arrival.

The Loire Valley / Maine-et-Loire region

The Loire Valley region is a most beautiful part of France, with the picturesque and historic Chateaux -Churches and Cathedrals which are innumerable in the area.
Together being a world heritage area, the Loire river offers a host of wildlife to be seen. We are situated mid-way between Tours and Le Mans both Cities have a medievel part of the town together with breathtaking Cathedrals, and of course, all over the area there are pretty little villages to visit, and nearly all offer typically French home made refreshments in their local cafe/restaurants, and patisseries, not forgetting the acres of vineyards for your wine tasting excursions
The weather in this part of France is usually 5 degrees warmer than that of the UK and generally more sunshine. Apart from the historic buildings and places to go, there are many more modern places of interest, such as theme parks, botanical gardens and a host of various attractions etc etc. - all too many to mention, you will not have time to fit it all in one visit to La Huttiere !

The Chigne area

The town of Le Lude is approx a five minute drive from the Gite, and offers all that you may need, as there is a large supermarket,, together with various other shops . There are many bars and restaurants of all types to suit all needs, offering good French fayre together with many boulangeries where you will get crusty French sticks and of course, the mouth watering pastries!
Being on the Loire river, together with the many lakes, fishing is always a favourite hobby. and for the Golfers there is a famous and well renowned golf course at Bauge which is approx a twenty minutes from the Gite.
Ther are many local horse riding stables The world famous Cadre Noire are at Saumur - 40 mins away and they have regular events and shows. The area is excellent for walkers, with beautiful scenery And we are only a twenty minute drive from the famous La Fleche Zoo, with their daily shows which makes a great day out for all ages - highly recommended.!
Our own village of Chigne ( two minutes drive ) boasts a superb restaurant where you can get a full five course lunch including wine for just 11 euros ! - not to be missed ( you can also get your morning French stick here )

From the UK the most used is the crossing to Calais, or to Caen - then by road to us at Chigne.
From Calais it is a stress free - comfortable 4 1/2 - 5 hour drive including a coffee stop and hardly any traffic on the roads completely the opposite to the UK !
There is a good service from Stanstead to Tours airport which is serviced by Ryanair and there are some excellent bargain price flights to be had. We are only a forty minute drive from the airport.
Either way that you choose to travel, we will send a full and easy set of traveling instructions, when you book your holiday.
