About the home

We hope to offer you a completely different holiday experience. Something you will enjoy and remember. Not just a room in a noisy hotel or a remote villa, but a real Spanish home. Our aim is to provide you with a stress free holiday, ALL year round, in quality accommodation, with a first class service.

The Huerta Montero residence in Chiclana is a large rustic original Spanish villa, which has been lovingly restored retaining many original features. It is unusual as the main villa has been divided into two chalets with 2 separate entrances and totally independent living areas, kitchens, bathrooms etc, plus there is a beautiful fully equipped mobile home with it's own terrace. The very large Courtyard apartment with wooden vaulted ceilings sits within its own private courtyard area to the rear of the property.. Apartments can be rented individually or as a block. It is ideal for couples, small or larger families or groups (up to 14) who wish to holiday together but have some privacy . The villa has a private 9 x 4m pool, walled garden.and private parking. All apartments are tastefully furnished, comfortable with quality cotton bed linen and soft fluffy towels. Most rooms have air conditioning and windows have mosquito nets. Close by we also have a number of properties that we manage on behalf of owners.

The residence is close to all local amenities including shops, bars, restaurants, tennis and riding. There is also a medical centre in Chiclana Town, where English is spoken..

We are able to offer accommodation only, bed and breakfast or half board and we also organise many themed nights. Learn to cook paella, ride, dance flamenco, to paint and much more. If all this just sounds like hard work then just relax around the pool with a good book.

COURTYARD APARTMENT: sleeps 4 6

Originally storage for the fruit and vegetables grown on site, the courtyard apartment is situated at the rear of the property and it is full of character and charm. It has been tastefully reformed into an independent spacious apartment with high vaulted ceilings, which gives it lots of character and a rustic feel. The lounge has a fire place with log burner, sattelite tv with DVD, music system. There are two good size bedrooms, one en-suite, plus a family size bathroom and a utility room. Most rooms have hot and cold air-conditioning units, and mosquito nets at the window. The apartment has its own courtyard with seating area.and is ideal for those meals al fresco. It is also suitable and large enough for wheelchair access.

The large kitchen/diner is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave,dishwasher, etc. As most spanish homes are fitted with rejas, (bars at the windows) for your safety and peace of mind there is a fire exstinguisher/blanket plus two exits as well as the front door.

Bedrooms:2.consisting of 1 spacious Master Bedroom with kingsize bed and on suite with walk in shower, handbasin, wc.. Rustic pine freestanding furniture with lampshades and quality soft furnishings

Bedroom 2 has large twin beds which can be pushed together to make double, freestanding wardrobe, bedside cabinets

Further details outdoors:
All the accommodation is set within a private and secure walled garden with it's own 9m x 4m rustic style swimming pool and outdoor shower. Mature gardens have beautiful bougainvilleas, palms, and of course pine trees, which offer shade and help keep cool in the hot summer months. Just perfect for a relaxing moment with a glass of Rioja.

The fruit trees, herbs and tomatoes grown on site are used in our cooking and guests are welcome to help themselves and although we have no lemon trees that bear fruit (at present) we will ensure you have plenty of them for all those G & Ts near the pool.

Terraces with tables and chairs, outside rustic stone clad kitchen area with BBQ and sink, umbrellas and range of loungers are provided. Pergola and shaded seating areas.

Pool shared between all three apartments.. The pool and all outside areas are maintained and kept clean by ourselves and although we are not intrusive we are on hand for anything you need allowing you to have a completely stress free holiday.

Further details

The pool is NOT fenced off therefore we advise you to consider suitability for non swimmers and small children.

The courtyard and chalet apartment are suitable for wheelchair access and we are willing to help and discuss special requirements for disabled persons. Please contact us if you wish to holiday here but are receiving permenant medical treatment and / or need to visit a hospital on a regular basis as we may be able to organise this for you.

Please contact us if you are interested in staying at Huerta Montero for a longer period during the winter months as we can offer you a great deal.

The Costa de la Luz region

The ‘Costa de la Luz’ (the Coast of Light) is just becoming acknowledged as one of southern Spain’s finest cultural & tourist destinations. This part of Andalusia has a rich cultural and historical heritage and magnificently diverse landscapes. It’s made up of pinewoods and marshland, surrounded by a national park which attracts migrating birds.

The area also has the perfect climate with temperatures averaging 20 degrees centigrade most of the year and with more than 3000 hours of sunshine.

Huerta Montero is an excellent base for touring, with Seville, Gibraltar, Bolonia, Caños de Meca and the Pueblos Blancos all within a drive away.. The nearer town of Conil is just 10 mins and the hilltop towns of Vejer de la Frontera and Medina Sidonia are only 15-20 mins. Many other places of interest include Jerez, Cadiz, Seville, Gibraltar and Tarifa. Further afield, the short ferry ride to Marrocco, 35 mins across the Straits of Gibraltar from Tarifa to Tangiers, offers an unforgettable day trip. Like most places on the Costa de la Luz, Chiclana with its coastline and facilities, (hotels, bars, restaurants) have made it into a top quality tourist destination.

The Chiclana / Rana Verde area

The traditional Spanish town of Chiclana, which is a typical Andalucian town with narrow streets and flower filled courtyards, has much to offer with its architecture, restaurants, shops and the market has an amazing variety of fruit vegetable, fish and meat stalls. The main centre around the town hall is bustling with shoppers and visitors all year round.

There are also some amazing sandy beaches on the Atlantic coast where you can spend a fantastic holiday and there are many more wonderful secluded coves just waiting to be explored. We have some of the best beaches in Spain, La Barrosa retains the Blue Flag award year after year, and its coastline and facilities make it a top quality location for year round sports and leisure activities.

There are a number of interesting monuments, bodegas and museums to visit in Chiclana or if you are lucky, you may just be here during one of the many fiestas held throughout the year.

We organise a number of themed breaks which include the Feria del Caballo, Formula one and the Moto GP as well as Golf, Painting and Cycling breaks. All the following activities can all be arranged on your behalf. Walking, cycling, golf, mountain biking, wind-surfing, fishing, diving, sailing, swimming, golf, tennis, horse riding through the pine forest or beach, quad biking.

A typical airport transfer from Jerez airport to La Barrosa would cost 70 /75 each way for 4 passengers and luggage. Up to 7 persons in 160 euros return. Local taxis can also be booked for you in advance.

You can get a train from Seville to El Puerto de Santa Maria and Cádiz. From Seville, there is a high speed train (AVE - alta velocidad Espanola) connection to Cordoba and Madrid and a direct link to Malaga.

“Confirm all good comments about Huerto Montero!” We were apprehensive about occupying the Mobile Home(last minute booking - 4 persons) Paul assured us we would be fine and would love the area - we did! Enjopyed the surprise outing to the authentic Flamenco & Horse Show nearby, organized efficiently by Angie. Not sure if anyone mentioned the train station- 20min by car away which gave easy access to Cadiz, which was a pleasant surprise - the train journey and Cadiz!!! The OAP's from Wales.

“Fabulous Holiday villa, made all the more special because of exceptionally friendly and helpful owne” What a great holiday we have just come back from at Huerto Montero. The Villa was beautifully presented, tastefully decorated, equipped with everything we could need, very clean, the pool was lovely and the air con kept us cool in the gorgeous weather, The outside of the villa and garden was also beautiful. Angela and Paul the owners were just great, we couldnt ask for friendlier people, they ensured all our needs were met on arrival and gave us a welcome basket including champagne as we had just got married. As the week progressed they were full of tips and advice when we asked for it which all worked well and even invited us to Angela's birthday party in town, which was great fun. Our two children 8 & 4 loved the place and Paul offered us lots of things for the beach so that Olivia and Mia could play games, sit under beach umbrellas in the shade and even surf the smaller waves on boogie boards. Personally we are very sociable and so found their company throughout the week excellent fun, alternatively if you just want your own space, they know how to be discrete yet still very helpful. “Like home from home” Angie and Paul made us all so welcome, nothing was too much trouble-Angie even made puddings when we had 2 birthdays, lovely. We and our friends had 2 of the properties whilst another family occupied the third. This may not suit everyone but it worked fine with us. Hiring the owner's car was brilliant, Paul collected us from the airport and then it was ours for the duration-much more reasonable price than a hirecar too. The property has been lovingly built by Paul and Angie, with a beautiful private garden around it.The pool isn't huge but it's great for cooling off in. The night a Spanish neighbour came over to cook an authentic Paella was particularly memorable, and delicious! The 2 bedrooms in the Chalet are a little cosy with slightly limited storage space (for 2 teenagers!!) but would be fine with smaller children. We spent most of our time outside anyway and the veranda was favourite shady spot, having the gas BBQ was great too. Plenty of places to visit within an hour at most, although v hot inland in August. Lovely family -friendly beaches, clean and sandy with excellent facilities-not walking distance but seafront parking v cheap. 3 supermarkets a short drive away too. Angie is happy to arrange horse riding outings, she has lots of local knowledge. Having British TV was a boon on really hot afternoons as the kids took cover and watched trash for a while! we had a really relaxing holiday and that's due in no small part to Angie and Paul's hospitality plus Monty the dog became a firm favourite with all of us.

I was a little apprehensive about this trip to the Jerez feria especially when I heard I would be staying in the mobile home.My worries were unfounded.Paul and Ange couldn't have been more attentive or helpful and the accommodation was luxurious-plenty of space,spotlessly clean and airconditioned.We saw lots of interesting places but still had time to explore Jerez on our own.Just a word of warning-you may need bigger clothes on your return especially after Marie-Carmen's paella

Arrived home 1 hour ago and missing Huerta Montero already. Angie and Paul's hospitality, helpfulness, warmth and friendliness are the tip of the iceberg! Our experience of the last 10 days was beyond our expectation; not only was the accommodation outstanding, the wonderful ambience of 'go at your pace' allowed us the perfect holiday. Comment: My daughter and I stayed at Huerta Montero along with my brother and his family,we had the perfect balance of family time and private time,with having separate apartments and with having the great outside eating atrea with a bbq made it fun for dinner time and the great size pool allowed the kids to play all day. W hardly ever left the villa as we really enjoyed being there so much and Paul and Angela are the perfect hosts.

Comment: I've had a hard time bringing myself to write a review as it brings back many great, GREAT, memories and underlines the fact that we are no longer there. We had a tremendous time together at the Huerta de Montero. The villa, the pool, the hosts were tremendous. For once the pictures and the reviews did not do justice to what we experienced. We are only hoping that we can visit again in the future. We enjoyed vacations to remember and left with memories to treasure. Did I say that Paul and Angela were extraordinary hosts ? Well it is worth repeating.

Discounts available to couples out of season and also offered on longer off peak stays of over two weeks ( Does not include Christmas deals).

We do have available space in nearby accommodation for extra large parties of up to 22+.

The prices above are for the rental of accommodation only and do not show or include any of the themed breaks that we organise. For prices and to check the dates of our themed breaks including the Jerez MotoGP or Jerez Horse Fair please check out our website.

Payment is can be made in pounds, euros or online with Pay Pal with the exchange rate agreed at time of booking. Please fill in booking form and send a non-refundable deposit of 25% by bank transfer as soon as possible. Account details will be provided. There is also the option to pay a 50% deposit with the balance in cash on arrival. This deposit is also non refundable should you have to cancel.

Balance of payment plus refundable damage deposit of £100 per apartment (all bank charges to be paid by client) is due 6 weeks prior to arrival. If the property is booked within 6 weeks prior to arrival, the full amount is due immediately.
