Enquire nowThe Costa de la Luz region
Welcome to the Costa de la Luz- the coast of light. So called because it is so sunny. It is the province of Andalucia where you can discover a true taste of Spain. Traditional flamenco dancing and tapas are wonderful here.
The beaches are just fantastic ranging from the ideal family beach with gently sloping sands and gentle seas, to the craggy coastline dominated by rugged coves and cliffs which are fantastic for snorkelling and fishing. It is the Atlantic ocean and is beautifully clear and aquamarine in colour.
We have lovely short winters with plenty of sunshine so we spend lots of time out of doors – strolling along the long sandy beaches, playing golf, sailing, taking part in one of the many local fiestas or my favourite - just sitting on the terrace of a bar, enjoying the local food and wine.
Festivals - well Spain is just full of them. Ladies and children dress in colourful flamenco costumes, many on beautiful horses. Its a great chance to enjoy tapas, drink the local sherries and dance - watch the locals dance Sevillanas, the traditional flamenco dance. It is such a great experience and a shame to miss.
Jerez Motor GP in the early spring. If you are looking for somewhere to stay for the motor GP, then look no further. Our villa is superbly situated, only 30 minutes to the track in Jerez and 6 minutes to the beach. Most importantly an automatic gate to keep your bikes secure. Why not get a group together?
The best things about this coast are the glorious beaches, unspoilt towns and villages, dramatic sunsets and huge nature reserves. You may not find an all-night foam party but you can dance on the beach till dawn, sample the locally made sherries and savour some of the best food in Spain.
If golf is what you are looking for then Andalucia is a must! There are 10 golf courses, including 4 championship courses, all within 40 minutes drive, from the villa. You can hire a car yourself or we can organise a full package for you including transportation. Your clubs will always be fully secure inside our gated walls. Chiclana one of the sunniest places in Spain and has ideal weather for golf.
We can arrange all your golf for you before you come.
So much to see so little time to see it
The Chiclana / Rana Verde area
Chiclana is an typical old Andalucian town with an interesting history and access to some of the best beaches in all of Spain. The town has a wide range of shops as well as bars, restaurants, markets and sherry bodegas. In the town centre you'll find narrow streets and courtyards filled with flowers - typical of this region of Spain.
The centre, located around the town hall square and the covered market, is bustling and lively. The market has an array of fruit and vegetables, fish and meat stalls. Also a weekly market with all your holiday must buys!
Villa Aurora is an excellent base for touring Andalusia. Seville, Gibraltar, Bolonia, Caños de Meca and the Pueblos Blancos all a great day out and not far away. Here are a few of my favourite things to do:
1. Watch the fantastic horse show in the Real Escuela del Arte Andaluz in Jerez.. No one should miss these magnificent dancing stallions and the riders in all their finery
2. Take the ferry over to Morocco, Africa for the day - ride a camel or haggle in the markets for a bargain
3. Drive to Gibraltar (90 mins) and do some tax free shopping, take a cable car ride, visit the famous rock, Barbary apes and caves
4. Visit Jerez (40 mins), world famous for its flamenco, sherry & brandy bodegas! I can recommend a visit to the Tio Pepe bodega for an organised tour.
5. For the kids there is the Isla Magica theme park in Seville, a zoo and crocodile farm in Jerez and a waterpark in Puerto de Santa Maria (and don´t forget crabbing in the rock pools)
6. Drive into the mountains and visit a (pueblo blanco) white village such as Arcos with its magnificent cliff views, ancient Medina Sidonia or hill-top Vejer de la Frontera with its cobblestone streets and beautiful plaza.
7. Take a boat trip up the Guadalquivir river to the Donana natural park to see the spectacular wildlife including flamingoes galore.
8. Visit Bolonia and see the ancient Roman ruins and huge sand dues with views of Morroco.
9. G to the oldest city in Europe, Cadiz and explore an enchanting spider web of narrow alleyways dotted with atmospheric tavernas
10. Watch a fantastic flamenco show whilst eating tapas on a warm sultry evening
If you wish to do some sport whilst you are here the choice is huge.
Sailing and Windsurfing: there is a large marina at Novo Sancti Petri and also a windsurfing school.
Golf:: As mentioned above the choice is huge.
Horse riding : the length and beauty of the beaches make them ideal for a long horse ride or a stroll through the pine forrestis so romantic.
Tennis/Padel : There are several clubs in Chiclana where you can play.
Bike riding. We have many official tourist routes here in Chiclana. Available to hire locally
Fishing: The altantic is full of fish and you can find plenty of trips in Chiclana and Cadiz including shark fishing.
Bird watching: This is also the best part of Spain to see all the bird life.
Spain is renowned for its fiestas. Chiclana is no exception and tapas, processions, bullfighting and flamenco are part of every life in Chiclana. If you are in the area around June the13 Feria is a must! You will see all the old customs, flamenco dresses and caballero hats. Going from stall to stall, you will hear flamenco singing and dancing and of course a fun fair that is out of this world.
Walking: Chiclana has a tourist route known as The Seven Magical Places of Chiclana. More information can be given on arrival.
Our villa is set right in the middle between the town of Chiclana and the beaches and golf courses of Barrossa. It is a lovely secluded residential area set amongst pine trees.
A perfect location to start your holiday or base for your golfing expedition.

We had a lovely stay at Villa Aurora, even if the weather wasn't kind to us. The villa is beautiful, with everything that we needed. We made good use of the pool and BBQ and spent a lot of time outside, even though it was raining a few days that we were there. Jan and her son were very helpful getting us settled in and make sure that the pool and gas was taken care of. They supplied us with a baby cot, gate for the stairs and a high chair for our daughter, which made life a lot easier for us. Highly recommended!!!! |
