Villa | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Casa Estoque is a beautiful villa set in secluded private gardens, minutes from the beach and the wonderfully traditional town of Chiclana de la Frontera. When you stay with us you get that super beach based holiday while also enjoying all the splendour of a true Spanish culture. This lovely villa is an ideal holiday home from home for you and your family. It is all on one level, so no stairs to negotiate.
As you enter, the house is lovely and light and the corridor leads to a bright and sunny lounge with large comfortable sofas and a super bay window. English tv, dvd and music system. Wireless internet is provided free of charge. There is also a dining area (which is rarely used as most people like to sit outside). Along the corridor is a fully fitted kitchen complete with dish washer and washing machine, microwave, two fridges with freezer compartments and all the customary gadgets. In here is also a small breakfast table. A door leads straight out to a covered eating area fantastic for evening meals and breakfast al fresco.
There are three good sized airconditioned bedrooms. The master bedroom has a large en suite bathroom with a corner bath/shower, toilet and bidet and windows facing out into the garden, lovely to wake up to in the morning. Two more bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other a double bed. Both have large fitted cupboards.
The family bathroom is spacious with bath with shower over, toilet and bidet.
The villa is set in the quiet residential area of El Sotillo which is perfectly set between the town and the beach.
In the tranquil gardens is a great 8 x 4 metre swimming pool with roman steps to get in easily ( a must for small children or the less able) The garden is enclosed by a high wall, fencing and shrubs and has an electric pedestrian gate and a roller running car access gate.
The garden is lawned around the pool area and we have a lovely BBQ, perfect for dining alfresco.
We also have a large covered porch area with comfortable seating, perfect for chilling out with a cool glass of sangria or beer. Here is a dining area, for those who prefer to eat in the shade.
We are 4 minutes by car to the beach which means you can enjoy all the joys of the seaside, but not the noise when you just want to relax in your own garden. There are 3 supermarkets just down the road, including Lidel and Mercadona. There are several Spanish ventas and restaurants and also a pharmacy nearby.

The Costa de la Luz region
Our Villa is on the Costa de la Luz- the coast of light. So called because it is so sunny and the light is something special. In this province of Andalucia you can discover a true taste of Spanish life. Traditions such as flamenco dancing and tapas are wonderful here.
The beaches are glorious ranging from the perfect family beach with swathes of sandy shores and gentle seas, to the rugged coastline dominated by majestic cliffs and secret coves which are fantastic for snorkelling and fishing. It is on the Atlantic ocean which is beautifully clear and aquamarine in colour.
The winter is short with plenty of sunshine so we spend lots of time out of doors – strolling along the sandy beaches, playing golf, sailing, going to one of the many local festivals or my favourite - simply sitting on the terrace of a bar, enjoying the local food and wine.
Festivals - such fun. Ladies and children and men dress in colourful flamenco costumes, many riding on beautiful horses. Its a great chance to enjoy unusual tapas, drink the local sherries and dance or just watch the locals dance Sevillanas, the traditional flamenco dance. It is such a great experience.
The best things about this coast are the glorious beaches, unspoilt towns and villages, dramatic sunsets and huge nature reserves. You may not find an all-night foam party but you can dance on the beach till dawn, sample the locally made sherries and savour some of the best food in Spain.
If golf is what you are looking for then Andalucia is a must! There are 10 golf courses, including 4 championship courses, all between 5 and 40 minutes drive from the villa. You can hire a car yourself or we can organise a full package for you including transportation. Your clubs will always be fully secure inside our gated walls. Chiclana one of the sunniest places in Spain and has ideal weather for golf.
We can arrange all your golf for you before you come.
So much to see so little time to see it
Chiclana is an typical old Andalucian town with an interesting history and access to some of the best beaches in all of Spain. The town has a wide range of shops as well as bars, restaurants, markets and sherry bodegas. In the town centre you'll find narrow streets and courtyards filled with flowers - typical of this region of Spain.
The centre, located around the town hall square and the covered market, is bustling and lively. The market has an array of fruit and vegetables, fish and meat stalls. Also a weekly market with all your holiday must buys!
Casa Estoque is an excellent base for touring Andalusia. Seville, Gibraltar, Bolonia, Caños de Meca and the Pueblos Blancos all a great day out and not far away. Here are a few of my favourite things to do:
1. Watch the fantastic horse show in Jerez..
2. Take the ferry over to Morocco, Africa for the day
3. Drive to Gibraltar (90 mins)
4. Visit Jerez (40 mins), for its flamenco, sherry & brandy bodegas!
5. For the kids there is the Isla Magica theme park in Seville, a zoo and crocodile farm in Jerez and a waterpark in Puerto de Santa Maria (and don´t forget crabbing in the rock pools)
6. Drive into the mountains and visit a (pueblo blanco) white village like Arcos de La Frontera .
7. Take a boat trip up the Guadalquivir river to the Donana natural
8. Visit Bolonia and see the ancient Roman ruins .
9. Go to the oldest city in Europe, Cadiz, and explore an enchanting spider web of narrow alleyways dotted with atmospheric tavernas
10. Watch a fantastic flamenco show whilst eating tapas on a warm sultry evening
If you wish to do some sport whilst you are here the choice is huge.
Sailing and Windsurfing: there is a large marina at Novo Sancti Petri and also a windsurfing school.
Golf:: As mentioned above the choice is huge.
Horse riding : the length and beauty of the beaches make them ideal for a long horse ride or a stroll through the pine forrestis so romantic.
Tennis/Padel : There are several clubs in Chiclana where you can play.
Bike riding. We have many official tourist routes here in Chiclana. Available to hire locally
Fishing: The altantic is full of fish and you can find plenty of trips in Chiclana and Cadiz including shark fishing.
Bird watching: This is also the best part of Spain to see all the bird life.
Spain is renowned for its fiestas. Chiclana is no exception and tapas, processions, bullfighting and flamenco are part of every life in Chiclana. If you are in the area around June the13 Feria is a must! You will see all the old customs, flamenco dresses and caballero hats. Going from stall to stall, you will hear flamenco singing and dancing and of course a fun fair that is out of this world.
Walking: Chiclana has a tourist route known as The Seven Magical Places of Chiclana. More information can be given on arrival..
A perfect location to start your holiday .

"Exactly what we hoped it would be."
Clean, well maintained, spacious and in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The villa was exactly what we hope it would be and had everything we needed. Close enough to the beach but far enough away from the town so it nice and quiet. Chiclana de la Frontera is a beautiful town and is only a short drive away (or a bike ride if you're a little more adventurous). The resort itself has a lovely beach and the little fishing village of Santa Petri gives you a real taste of local life. Perfect.

"Nice Villa in a typical Spanish area"
Casa Estoque is on a housing estate, neighbours live behind high walls in bungalow-style houses, so you are not overlooked. We were the first letting occupants this year - towels, bed linen and a lot of furniture and kitchenware were all new.
The house was well equipped, clean, good layout, lovely gardens and swimming pool which was ample space for 6 adults and spent a lot of time in/out of the pool and garden area. During our fortnight, a hot south easterly wind - Levant - was in full force and a lot of debris fell into the pool and had to be maintained regularly. We did manage a couple of quick visits to the beach at Cadiz and La Barrosa, but got rather uncomfortable in the strong wind!
Lots of info at the house, some is a bit out of date so check the internet for info - house has wi-fi.
Chiclana is huge, with the Villa closer to La Barrosa about one mile from the beach, and popular with Spanish tourists. ATM not easy to find. Plenty of pharmacies in the area, Supermarket may want your driving licence as proof of id when using credit card.
Jan and Greg on hand, very helpful, met us on arrival and departure.
Found Casa Estoque on Holiday Lettings by Trip Advisor but paying the owners direct. This was rather daunting at first, as we had never booked a Villa direct with an owner before and felt apprehensive about personal bank transfers. However, all transactions went through smoothly and the £200 deposit was refunded within a couple of days of departure.
Places we visited:
Chiclana bodegas - Cajita Cream Sherry highly recommended – worth a visit, and a tasting session, but check with them first as they're not always open to the public.
Cadiz – old town – lovely shops and architecture
Tarifa – on the coast, Moroccan influence lovely shops, trips to Tangier available
Conil – market in the evenings, lovely sunset, lovely shops for knick knacks, lots of cafes and bars very bustly
Ronda – up in the hills, lovely views, very hot, very busy, deep gorge, well worth a visit
Rota – American forces' base, town quiet, big beach. Ok if you're into looking at the odd ship but the visit didn't take long
Verej – another white wash village popular with tourists.
Jerez – Andalucian horses dressage/show was wonderful, horses look really well and riders demonstrated control brilliantly – the show was very impressive set in lovely grounds next to the Sandeman Bodegas. Cost 26 euros each for the show, grounds well kept with signage in English, and an excercising paddock. Unfortunately, not allowed to take photos of the show for fear of spooking the horses, which some people ignored regardless of being told not to do so.
Hints and tips:
A car with air con is essential. Doyouspain.com charged just over 300 euros for Vauxhall Corsa for 2 weeks inc additional driver and full insurance. Beware - drivers do not indicate nor use the correct lane on roundabouts! They are very vocal and don't expect manners - this is their way of life – so don't take offence. Space for 2 x cars in Villa's drive.
Parking on sea-front was one euro for the whole day at Conila and Tarifa. Restaurant prices vary but generally good value, check out the local produce, fish aplenty. Alcohol very cheap in supermarkets. Supermarkets do not close for siesta and are open til late. Closed all day Sunday.
The electricity tripped when using too many applicances at the same time (dishwasher, 2 x showers, oven, kettle). The voltage for each household in Spain is much lower than in the UK so tripping is a regular occurrence. Toilet paper is placed in a bin and not flushed. Don't forget siesta time! Very little shops and bars open in afternoons, usually open in the mornings until midday then late afternoon until midnight and is the norm to eat out around 10pm onwards. Lots of people out in the evenings. We were provided with a nice welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, cake, bread, jam and sherry. Speaking Spanish would be an advantage but we got by knowing very little. If you're looking for bingo, fish and chips and a full english, then this is not for you. Expect flamenco music, traditional tapas, paella (recommended) sangria, mojito. Fabulous. Although walking to closest beach is do-able, it was hot so we used the car with air-con.
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Estoque very much and could have stayed one more week, however, a little too far from anywhere else.
I'm really pleased that you enjoyed our villa and your holiday, and thank you for taking the time to write a review. Our villa is one of 8 individually designed single storied villas in a cul-de-sac in a quiet residential area consisting of similar properties, so I was therefore surprised at your description of an housing estate which conjures up a completely different picture. I'm sorry that you had a problem with the electrics but as you know the capacity was upgraded in the villa whilst you were there to prevent a re-occurrence for future guests. The ATM machines are not always easy to spot but there are quite a few of them along the road which runs parallel to La Barrosa beach. Had you had more time to spare I would have suggested trips to Seville (13/4hrs drive), Arcos de La Frontera(11/2hrs drive)and Gibraltar (11/4hrs drive)all of which are well worth a visit whilst you are in this beautiful area of Spain.

"Lovely, spacious, quiet villa with own pool."
As a young family, we have been here a few times and will probably go back. The villa is clean, spacious, modern and well furnished. The pool is a good size and we had hours of fun in it. Although you have to be careful with little ones. The garden is also a good size and the shaded area is very useful during the hottest periods of the day. Facilities for babies are catered for with cot, cot bedding, high chair and childrens cutlery etc. There is a TV and CD player which is useful in the evenings.
Although it is a short drive to the beach and shops, the villa itself is located away from any hustle and bustle, so you can truly relax and unwind. As a family we found the benefits of a hire car very worthy. The surrounding towns Jerez, Seville and Cadiz are beautiful places to visit, making good days out and not too far to travel. We even spent a day in Gibraltar seeing monkeys and other sites stopping off at Tariffa seeing whales, dolphins and wind surfers.
Not speaking Spanish, we didn't have any problems while we were out there. All the locals speak and understand fairly good English.
The information provided in the welcome pack is excellent and informative.
We found a good indoor shopping centre, even with a Disney Store and McDonald's with a soft play area, ideal for a bad weather day and having young children to entertain.
The local beaches at Sancti Pectri and La Barossa were sandy, clean and well facilitated with playgrounds etc.
The restaurants in Chiclana itself are excellent and you can generally find something to suit everyone.
All in all a lovely, enjoyable holiday!

"A luxury property with everything you required made it feel like home straightaway."
The property is bright clean and well maintained throughout. It's large fully equipped kitchen has everything you require to make self catering a real pleasure. Externally the villa has an attractive traditional appearance; internally the style is a cleaver mix of traditional Spanish with a modern edge that creates a clean and uncluttered result.
The garden is a real pleasure with a cool dense green natural lawn that leads you to a pool that can only be described as crystal sparkling; the best I have ever swum in.
Its situation is in a quite residential road with two supermarkets only a ten minute walk away. The main town of Chiclana is a gem of a place with one of the best fresh food markets ever. The town exudes the real Spain its unpretentious and friendly with lots to see and enjoy if your prepared to discover.

"Comfortable 3 bed property, 5 mins drive to La Barrosa beach"
A comfortable villa ideal for families, located down a quiet street but within walking distance to paper shop, tapas bar and cafeteria. Ideal for exploring the cities of Cadiz and Jerez, both approximately 30 mins away. Lovely swimming pool.

"Private, peaceful but close to all amenities"
Ideally situated for gorgeous beaches and many varied eateries, yet also private and enclosed in its own grounds, Casa Estoque is the perfect holiday villa from which to explore a lovely part of Spain, or simply relax beside the large pool.
