About the home

Blake's Folly is just a moments walk away from a beautiful pebble and sand beach in the quaint seaside village of Bracklesham Bay. It is situated within easy walking distance of local amenities including pubs, restaurants and shops. There is plenty locally and in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay.

We have prided ourselves on renovating and furnishing the bungalow to a very high standard, and making sure that there is everything you need for a relaxing holiday, with those special extras like a comprehensive DVD Library.

With one king sized bedroom, one double and one twin the house is ideal for families. The outside studio offers additional accommodation with a double bed laid out as a snug or use it as a flexible space; an office; an artists studio; or children's playroom.

The fantastic Mexican inspired outdoor courtyard area gets the sun all day and is fully secure for young children and animals. A daybed in the courtyard is the perfect place to curl up with a good book and keep out of the sun under the large awning.

Outdoor seating offer you fantastic alfresco dining late into the evening surrounded by beautiful soft lighting that reflects the wonderful rich mexican colours.

When you come in from the beach wash down using the outside hot shower.

The on site garage contains a fully equipped laundry and parking for one car. There is an off street parking space for two cars.

We are animal friendly. However, with increasing numbers of people now allergic to pets we have a surcharge of £40 per animal per stay to cover additional thorough cleaning of the house.

Conditions

Telephone bookings can be made to Vicky Smith on 01243514778 and are accepted up until 8pm.

Your confirmation and 25% deposit must be received within 5 working days to secure the booking, by bank transfer or cheque payable to Blake's Folly and sent to Lippering Gate, Main Road, Birdham, Chichester, PO20 7BY.

The balance of the booking cost must be paid within eight weeks of the date of arrival, and if the booking is taken within eight weeks of the date of arrival full payment is required.

In the event that the balance is not paid by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel your booking and re-let the property. If re-let cannot be arranged you will be liable for the balance.

A cleaning and breakages refundable deposit of £100 is required and to be included with the balance of the tariff, and will be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory inspection).

All breakages or damage that have occurred during the stay must be reported and if required paid for, an amount will be deducted from the cleaning and breakages deposit in consultation with the client.

Only guests named on the booking form are permitted to stay, with a maximum capacity of eight persons.

Occasionally access may be required to enter the property at reasonable times for purposes of inspection, proprietors for viewing or to carry out any maintenance required.

All guests are expected to leave the property clean and tidy when vacating. Keys will be given to you on arrival and collected on departure.

There is no smoking permitted in the house due to insurance conditions.

Full terms and conditions are available on request. Payment of the 25% deposit is taken as accepting these terms and conditions.

The South East England / Sussex region

The historical market town of Chichester is just 7 miles away and offers plenty with shopping, a multiplex cinema, ten pin bowling, swimming pool, health and sports centre and lots of quality restaurants and pubs to eat at. This walled city has a pedestrian centre with a magnificent cathedral and weekly farmers markets.

Pallent House offers everything for the art conscious and the Chichester Festival Theatre has become well known for its quality productions.

The bike path Salterns Way links the Witterings Peninsula with Chichester.

In and around Chichester there are a number of fantastic visitor attractions as well as the wonderful walks through the South Downs. Visitor attractions include:

Fishbourne Roman Palace and Museum, The Weald and Downland Museum, Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, West Dean House and Gardens, Goodwood House and Motor Circuit, Kingly Vale Nature Reserve, Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve, Chichester Harbour, Arundel Castle, Arundel Wetlands and the Portsmouth Historic Dockyards.

The Chichester / Bracklesham area

Bracklesham Bay is a quaint village just south of Chichester and adjoining the seaside villages of the Witterings. It is an area of development with a new community building due to be built, and the community sports area offers a fantastic new children's playground, basketball court, football pitches which are all dog friendly and within a five minute walk of the Folly.

Bracklesham has a number of good restaurants, pubs (closest just a five minute walk away), takeaways and convenience stores and the area is renowned for its beach, surfing and fossil hunting.

From walking, biking, beach combing, fossil hunting, surfing, diving, eating at once of the many local pubs or just lying of the beach relaxing, there is something for everyone. Kids will love to spot the fossils...sharks teeth and old shells...at low tide, but fossilised shells can even be found just walking along the beach.

Outside of the immediate area there is a beautiful sandy beach at East Head, less than 10 minutes drive away.

Blakes Folly is located on the coast just 7 miles south of Chichester.

By Car, from the A3 take the A27 towards Chichester, then take the A286 towards the Witterings. Drive through the village of Birdham. Once at a small roundabout take the first exit towards East Wittering (B2198). Continue on to Bracklesham lane, turning left onto East Bracklesham Drive.

Third Avenue is the third street on your left hand side, and Blakes Folly is located on the corner of Third Avenue and East Bracklesham Drive with parking on East Bracklesham Drive.

By Train, take the train to Chichester from either London Bridge or Victoria. Otherwise you could take the train from Waterloo through to Havant. Taxis are available at all railway stations.
