The South East England region

Quay House is set in the heart of the picturesque village of Old Bosham, popular with sailing enthusiasts and sight-seers alike. Bosham is riddled with History and famously known for being the location of King Canute's palace where he supposedly placed his throne on the edge of Bosham's waters and ordered that the waves stop and turn the tide back.

Canute is not the only royal linked to quaint historic village of Bosham. King Harold II lived and kept his fleet on Bosham's waters and can be found pictured in the Bayeux tapestry attending mass in the local parish in 1064. This was shortly before he left to meet William of Normandy which famously led to the battle of Hastings in 1066. Make sure to pop into the small church on the way to the harbour and you can learn a little more and see a copy of the tapestry.

Within the village is a selection of good local pubs, a small selection of shops and a tea rooms overlooking the waterfront. The Bosham Walk Art and Crafts Centre is well worth a visit, you can pick up local hand crafted unique gifts and even watch local artists at work in their studios. Many come to the village to take a walk around the harbour and enjoy the attractive village or to spend an afternoon watching the world go by.

Bosham is just a few minutes away from the historic city of Chichester, renowned for the Festival Theatre and a selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. With a small station roviding links to nearby Chichester and Havant (with main line connections to London, Portsmouth and Brighton), Bosham is a place to relax, watch the local birdlife and enjoy an escape away from the hustle and bustle of city living.

The famous Goodwood Estate lies just to the north of Chichester and is perhaps best known for its motor racing events, including the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival. The horse racing at Goodwood is also must on the social calendar, especially the annual Glorious Goodwood meeting. Fontwell Racecourse is also local to Bosham, and you can catch a round of golf at Chichester, Goodwood or Cowdray to the north.
