A cosy rural cottage yet just perfect for Goodwood, Chichester and the Chichester theatres

Within three miles of Chichester city centre, yet wonderfully rural, Stable Cottage enjoys a quiet setting with a few other houses in the small hamlet of Colworth. This tasteful stable conversion is architect designed and makes the most of its space to provide very comfortable accommodation for up to four guests.

It is in an ideal setting being less than ten minutes from the city and a short drive from both Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and the beaches at Selsey. Alternatively stay local to the cottage and there are walks along the lanes and across the fields to the neighbouring village of Oving taking in views north towards the South Downs, Halnaker and Trundle Hill.

This two bedroom ground floor cottage is within the grounds of the owners' Sussex manor house and from the patio garden offers peaceful and private views over the neighbouring fields. It is tastefully furnished throughout with comfortable sofas and traditional features such as latched doors and a vaulted ceiling. The main bedroom has a double bed and a patio door door that opens to the garden. Facing east it captures the morning sun. A separate shower room is just off the kitchen. The second bedroom has twin beds and an ensuite shower room.

The owners have a tennis court in the grounds of their home which guests are welcome to use subject to prior arrangement.

The South East England region

Five miles from Colworth is Selsey Bill with the opportunity to enjoy the beaches and walk either way from the headland that juts out into the English Channel. A short distance further west are the beaches at The Witterings.

The cathedral city of Chichester has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral.

The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close by to the centre is worth considering since it is famous for the quality of theatre productions, many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene. For the film buff the cinema complex and nearby restaurants to the south of the city also make for an enjoyable evening out.

There is always much to see and do in Sussex, and staying in this area gives the best of both; beaches close by and an easy springboard back inland to explore the South Downs a great area to walk.

The small hamlet of Colworth is just three miles from Goodwood, so easy access for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival Meeting and of course Glorious Goodwood.

This whole area is rich in nature. Pagham Harbour just three miles due south from the cottage is a haven for unusual birds and wildlife. Chichester Harbour a little further to the west is another area of outstanding natural beauty. Pagham Harbour is an internationally important site for nature conservation while Chichester Harbour also combines its wildlife attractions with sailing centres such as Itchenor, Bosham, Dell Quay and Emsworth.
