Maybe the feature is the beautiful sitting room with open fireplace and also the separate snug with a woodburning stove. The kitchen here is spacious and comprehensively equipped and can comfortably seat all guests around the main table. However there is also a formal dining room should guests want to use it for a special occasion.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have king sized beds, one a double bed and the fourth bedroom has both a double and a single bed. Realistically the cottage will sleep eight however where there are three young children happy to share, Old Cottage can sleep nine. There is one family bathroom with a bath and shower fitted above as well as a separate cloakroom downstairs.

The gardens here are spacious and private with rose bushes either side of the garden path from the front gate offering seasonal colour during the year. The cottage has its own driveway where there is parking available for up to three cars.

The South East England region

West Sussex has much to offer the visitor whether choosing a short stay or a longer break. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty containing such areas designated in their own right such as Chichester Harbour with its 50 miles of inlets and shoreline, Pagham Harbour, an internationally important site for nature conservation and the South Downs which bisects the county.

Chichester

The most southerly part of Sussex, Selsey juts three miles into the English Channel and is maybe better known as Selsey Bill. The beach facing south west is the closest to Old Cottage with views along the coastline towards Portsmouth and Southsea and directly across to the Isle of Wight. On the south east side of the peninsula is the Selsey Lifeboat station which is open to the public every day. It is classed as an ‘explore’ station so allows free access to view the lifeboat and is certainly worth going to visit.

As you would expect Selsey is dominated by the sea and has a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Head west and you soon reach the resorts of Bracklesham Bay and the Witterings. Head east and you'll quickly find Pagham Harbour.

Pagham Harbour is a natural harbour and an internationally important site for nature conservation. The visitor centre is a mile north of the town although you may prefer to walk to the bird reserves along the spectacular East Beach from Selsey.

Six miles to the north, Chichester is the cathedral city of Sussex headed by the towering presence of the cathedral. It has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings. The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle.
