About the home

Near S.Cristoforo -an old church of XI century- this traditional stone built house is reachable by car or with 15 minutes walk from the railway station. The main bedroom ,with 4 beds, is on the ground floor. On the second floor are a marble bathroom, kitchen and living room with a beautiful marble fireplace and a sofa bed.

In the third level the main bedroom with double bed. The house is surrounded by lawns and by chestnut forest. From balconies beautiful view on the valley . 15 minutes car from ski areas. 20 minutes walk from free climbing area. Walking, trekking, mountain biking just outdoor.

Architect designed both for walls as for furniture. There are also electric heaters and an electric cooker. Marble fireplace for wood or pellets and for main heating of chalet.

Property ground of 600 sqm with fruit trees. Near torrent with possibility of sunbathing and swimming. Outside chestnut and pine forest.

English speaking representative on hand to answer any question. Help to provide alpine guides, ski tickets, training courses also.

The rental include everything except weekly washing of linen and of towels(3 towels each bed). The cost of weekly washing is €. 40 for each double or sofa bed and €. 30 for each single bed in use.

- Refundable breakages deposit of 300 € required 6 weeks before arrival, to be refunded at departure or within two weeks of your departure

- 25% of rental fee due at booking. The balance on 6 weeks before arrival together with refundable breakage deposit

The Lombardy / Bergamo Alps/Sondrio region

The small town of Chiavenna is located at the end of Engadina and Valtellina valleys, half way between Lake Como and St.Moritz, in the centre of the old Europe. Since ancient times, there was an important route between Northern Italy and central Europe.

In Chiavenna you can find culture, history and every kind of sports with a splendid view over the most spectacular mountains in the Alps. The climate is a typical alpine climate: always dry. Pleasant and hot in summer, fit for every kind of winter sports in winter with a long period of snow.

The Chiavenna area

Chiavenna is located at 500 mts above sea level, near the famous ski areas of Madesimo (15 km – www.skiareavalchiavenna.it ) and of St.Moritz (35 km – www.engadin.stmoritz.ch/en ). Just above the spectacular granite spires and rock faces of Pizzo Cengalo and Badile with a huge amount of climbing and treking possibilities. In front of the house opens Bodengo valley, famous for its rafting and canoeing .
Lake Como and Engadine Lakes allow you every kind of water sports.

Chiavenna is also an historical place with churches and palaces worthwhile to be visited(www.valchiavenna.com). Near Chiavenna the ruins of Piuro an important village destroyed by a landslip in XVII century, which killed over 1.000 people. Typical restaurants are "Crotti", located in granite caves in which it is perfectly preserved the taste of the typical wines and of "bresaola" of the region. Venice at 300 km, Milan at 140, Florence 400 km.

“Very nice and homely house, excellent location for climbing” Very nice house, very carefully renovated, great kitchen, fully equipped. Good for hikers and climbers.

“Great holiday, in a beautiful location” Villa Rita was a very comfortable place to stay for a couple of weeks. The location is attractive and easy to access. The house itself is small, but neat, tidy and well-equipped. The views from the house don't really take advantage of the location, which is a shame but only a minor quibble. The main bedroom is a mezzanine with a very low celling and steep stairs to access; fine for the fit and able but not recommended for those with mobility problems. The owner was great - welcoming and very helpful without being at all intrusive. At one point we reported that the fridge was broken and he had a new one ordered and installed within 24 hours.

'I couldn't believe the scenery from this wonderful villa. Located in the mountain with trees around us, this villa was perfect for our 5 weeks stay. It had everything you wanted, clean and comfortable. Perfect location to use it as a base. Lucio, your kind hospitality over the phone, internet and in person was impeccable.
