Home description
Ancient 15th century mill situated in the heart of the Chianti, between Florence and Siena, built near a small stream (the Argenna). The structure, which was restored with great care over a period of four years, has been transformed by the present owners into an extremely charming and comfortable environment.
The environment is also particularly cosy and romantic thanks to the preservation of the mill's ancient architectural elements, such as the old stone washbasins, the original terracotta floors and the hundred-year-old wood ceiling beams.
The interior furnishings are made up of period pieces and are combined with well-matched and original decorative solutions that give the entire structure a strong personality.
The house's position is peaceful and relaxing thanks to the absence of any other nearby houses and is protected by typical vegetation that has remained intact.

The Tuscany region
The long curve of the Tyrrhenian coast and the backbone of the Apennines, the short range of the Apuan Alps and the picturesque coastal plain of the Maremma, dominated by Monte Amiata, define the contours of Tuscany, whose variety and magnificence of landscape are extraordinary.
Every step is accompanied by the typical flora of Mediterranean countries: the vine, the olive and the cypress, a tree sacred to the Etruscans.
Tuscany is rich in wildlife. Due to the low density of the population rural area has retained excellent natural conditions for many species of wild animals including deer, fallow-deer, wildboar, goats, marmots, badgers, porcupines, wolves and foxes. Amongst the birds we can find jays, hoopoes, buzzards and many others. You can find also many flowers and the insects that feed them, bees, crickets, cicadas and grasshopper, whose song is heard during the summer months.
Tuscany begins to wake from winter as Easter approaches. The hillside are vibrant with the soft green of the new leaves and the scent of fresh growth. In springtime, specially mach and april, is often raining, during the day the sun is hot but the night is still cold. In may and june the weather is perfect, hot during the day and fresh in the night, the same in September. July and august are very hot and dry, but very pleasant to.
Florence, Siena, Pisa, Arezzo, Lucca, San Gimignano, ect. are the most famous artistic cities, but it is impossible to describe the treasure all around the region. In every corner, even the remotest, we find an ancient chapel, a hilltop castle, a palace, or a tower. Large cities, small cities, ancient cities; each has its treasure to show us, a fresco in the church, a piazza that has retained its original character, or celebrated museums full of masterpieces, monumental cathedrals and palaces, massive walls and fortresses.
In Tuscany the countless marvel of nature are accompanied by the indelible records of the past that testify so eloquently to the guiding role that this region played in the European culture.
Chianti / Castellina in Chianti area
Enclosed between the provinces of Siena and Florence, the Chianti Country, is an harmonious territory, with isolated farmhouses, fortified castlement, castle, towers, abbeys all around the hills. The Chianti Country is famous not only for its landscape but also for the fruit which its land offers. The exquisite wine that is produced here, known as far back as the Etruscan times, has given the region prestige and worldwide fame.
The Chianti area is protected by two important associations: the Chianti Classico wine Association and the Gallo Nero Association, whose name derives from the Chianti League, founded in the 13th century by the communes of Castellina, Radda and Gaiole in Chianti. The hills are absolutely enchanting covered in vineyards and oak, chestnut and holm-oak tree groves. The countryside, dotted with farmhouses, is now an exclusive tourist destination.
The beautiful hamlets of the Chianti are often characterised by fortified medieval castles, evidence of the ancient wars between Siena and Florence, while the Romanesque churches emerge from the past amidst the gently rolling landscape.
Passing through the vineyards and still wild woods, you reach Greve. Not to be missed is a visit to Monteriggioni, the most characteristic hamlet just north of Siena, along via Cassia towards Florence. This characteristic village is enclosed by encircling walls where there are also numerous towers still intact to this day.
