"PARADISE IN THAILAND"
Many thAnks to Noel for giving us the oppotunity to stay in paradise in Chiang Dao The villa and location were second to none and a relaxing holiday was had by all the family. The views of the mountains were amazing and the grounds of the villa were kept immaculate. The fire pit under the stars in the evening is a must as is the use of the chefs. We had three look after us and the food was superb and great value for money. Also worth hiring a driver and mini bus for at least three days to take in the sights. All can be arranged with Noel in advance. This is the perfect place to get away from the daily grind of life. A must for those who want peace and tranquility. Lastly a big thank you to all of the crew who made the holiday that little bit extra special. The tears shed by all when we left said it all. Thank you Noel, it was very special and will live long in our memories. Vince, Debs, David and Nueng.
A great review from a great family! Dear Vince It was an 'absolute' pleasure to have you and the family as our guests at the retreat and we certainly hope you will come back again sometime. Your very kind comments are very much appreciated by all the staff, and we send our very best wishes and thanks to everyone for your generousity and kindness during your stay Best wishes, good health and happiness to you all Noel and all the 'crew'

"A place I want to go back to"
We spent a week in Mountain View retreat last august with family and friends and it was just wonderful. It is a huge and very comfortable villa, with a view so amazing you don't even want to leave the house to explore the neighborhood! This provides a very relaxing atmosphere. Luk is an amazing cook that will prepare for you meals of quality similar to that of the best Thai restaurants. Noong is an excellent driver and together they really make your life easier. I only wish we will have the chance to come back soon.
Dear Claire Many thanks for your great review. It was a pleasure to have you as our guests and we look forward to the next time. All our staff send their best wishes and thanks for your very kind comments Best wishes to all the family Noel and all the 'crew'

"Hands down, the most amazing holiday of our lives…"
As luck would have it, I stumbled upon the most amazing holiday treasure of my life. After corresponding with Noel several times, it became obvious that he was a gentleman who would go to great lengths to ensure our holiday was something extraordinary - he did not disappoint. Traveling across the world with three young children is a daunting endeavor but we all survived in grand fashion and are better for it. My family of five joined two other families with young children and another friend (14 total in the group). In short, the most magnificent part of our vacation was our stay at Doi Luang Villa and our interaction with the staff, some of the nicest and most accommodating people we've ever met. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Wheng, Ding, Noy, Luk, and Loy. The Villa is even more beautiful than portrayed in the photographs and the view is absolutely stunning. Upon arrival, the children quickly made their way to the saltwater pool, a journey that happened several times a day! Every day, Wheng asked what time we would like our meals and had it on the table, ready to go, at the exact time! One day, the staff went out to the local countryside and found a fresh honeycomb and brought it back for us to sample; the next day, the children had pancakes with fresh honey for breakfast! Each day, the staff went to the local markets and/or country side and secured fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, and meat for the meals we asked asked them to prepare. Most times, we left the meals to Wheng's discretion as he was consistently able to choose and prepare something spectacular (HINT: each meal, except for breakfast, seemed to taste even better with a 52 baht LEO or Singha!). Each and every morning, the staff cleaned the entire villa and pool. In addition, the laundry service was extremely helpful. We definitely plan to return and look forward to seeing our friends at the Doi Luang Villa, again.
Dear Mike and all the family Many thanks for your fantastic review. It was our pleasure having you all stay at the retreat and we very much look forward to your return someday Best wishes to all the family Noel and all the "crew'

"We miss it already!"
We are a family with three young children on a nine-month trip and the Mountain View Retreat was exactly what we needed - a retreat, where we could relax and rejuvenate after months of travel. The house and property are gorgeous and the view is spectacular. If that weren't enough, the people employed at the Retreat are extremely kind and friendly. Both Luk and Noy played soccer and ping-pong with the kids and my five-year-old son followed Lung Loy around "helping" him with his chores. There were bikes for the kids to ride around and the puppies made it feel like home. Wheng and Dim cooked amazing and delicious food and we enjoyed their company, as well. The kids didn't want to leave and neither did we! Noel was wonderful to deal with and became an instant friend. After all is said and done, the Mountain View Retreat in Chiang Dao will certainly remain one of our most memorable experiences of the trip.
Many thanks for your great review Amy. It was a pleasure having you all stay with us and everyone here also miss you and the family already. We wish you well on your trip around the world. What great adventures lie ahead for you all! and we look forward to keeping up to date on where and what you are doing on the children's your wonderful blog. Best wishes Noel and all the "crew"

"The most beautiful and peaceful place we have stayed in Thailand."
This is a gorgeous house overlooking the beautiful Chiang Dao mountain-very quiet and peaceful. it is an easy drive from Chiang Mai. The house was very clean and spacious. We enjoyed many a meal on the back porch gazing at the spectacular view. At night there was a fire pit and it was just cool enough to enjoy it and gazing at the stars. As you meld into the cushy chair facing the mountain you may never want to leave.
Many thanks for your great review Elaine and we look forward to you all coming back again. Best wishes from all the "crew" Jan Gino and Noel

"If there is such a thing as paradise, we found it!"
First of all, I am not a great writer and certainly not one for writing reviews. having said that; Our stay in the holiday villa in Chang Mai was short lived. We were welcomed by Noel and his driver at the railway station and brought to what we thought was our accommodation for the duration of our short holiday. We had booked for a chef to assist us for these days, to allow us to relax. And that is what we did, the fridge had provided a few cold beers, the house with pool is absolutely stunning (albeit that the pool is a bit cold at this time of the year) and after advising the chef that we wanted Thai meals (hot, spicy and tasty)we were served meals only the better restaurants could serve. On our third day Noel asked us if we would be interested in moving to the “mountain house’ for a few days to experience that. After careful consideration (who would want to leave a great house in a very could location) we decided to accept his advice and go there for the last 3 nights of our 6 night stay. Well, I can now say that if there is a place called paradise, we have stayed there for 3 nights. The house is magnificent, the views spectacular, the chef as good as the one “in town” and the pool area as nice (unfortunately as cold, I like the water to be between 29.5 and 30 0C) as the one in town. On top of all that we had the (mis) fortune of Noel giving us a few pointers on our golf swing in the garden of this paradise (we ran out of daylight to complete the analysis of my swing, but still………….) I can state with a clear conscience and in all honesty, that at no time we regretted booking this accommodation c/w the use of the chef(s). If the opportunity arises we would not hesitate to do it all over again.
Dear Larry Many thanks for your wonderful review and we look forward to your return. All our staff send their thanks for your generousity and kindness, and we hope the golf tips will help. Best wishes Noel

"I realy don't want to tell you about this place"
Imagine sitting with your Thai chef, discussing the menu for the next day, whilst on the terrace overlooking the most beautiful mountains, with the children playing on the lawn and in the pool. Difficult not to feel a tad smug at your good fortune in finding this place. The house is wonderful, the location is superb, the people friendly, the food is brilliant.
Dear Simon Many thanks for your great review and please don't worry about telling your friends. You have our permission to do so !! It was our pleasure to have you all as our guests and hope one day you'll return Best wishes to all the family Noel and all the crew

"Amazing place in the mountains"
We arrived to Chiang Mai by train. We were pretty worried that Noel and/or the driver would not be there because the train was significantly late. However, they were there when we got there. Noel greeted us and sent us on our way with the driver. From that point on, everything was great. The driver did not speak much English. However, we had someone with us who could speak both English and Thai, so this was not an issue. The driver was great. He was able to take us everywhere that we wanted to go. He even took us to some places that we did not know of when time permitted. The drive back to the vacation home on the first night was a bit nerve-racking. The roads are very windy and dark. After that, both for our safety and for the drivers sake, we decided to make sure we got back before it got too dark for the rest of our stay. The home itself is beautiful. The 5 bedrooms in the home are all large. One bedroom had 2 beds (for a total of 6 beds). There is a balcony and a patio. Everyone in our group loved our stay there. The onsite help also was very nice and helpful whenever requested. The view from the patio or balcony is excellent (assuming you like mountains). We did have one issue (a person arranging events for us changing a price after we had completed the event) on our stay, but it was not really associated with the home or the owner. Aside from that, the only thing that you could really complain about is that there is not really any restaurants or convenience stores in close proximity. But, that's a part of the reason you should stay here. I'm not sure when I will make it back to Chiang Mai with a group. But, when I do, i'll definitely be in contact with Noel again. :)
Many thanks for your review Don We are delighted you really enjoyed your stay in our mountain view chateau and hope that you'll all be back again soon. I'm sure though that if you book our excellent team of chefs next time,it will make your stay even more enjoyable! We apologise for the bad weather you experienced on the way to the chateau, but gladly, this is extremely unusual. All the best to everyone and thanks again for staying with us. "Luxurious holiday in style"
The magnificent house has an uninterrupted mountains view. We were fascinated by the design of this large solid wooden Thai chateau. The property was built using mostly beautiful reclaimed timber from traditional Thai houses. As a family, we had a fun and relaxing time at the Doi Luang Mountain Estate. We were well looked after by the chef and the house keepers. The food was excellent with the ingredients fresh from the surrounding fields and farms. We would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful and unique stay in Northern Thailand.
Many thanks for your review Petch It was a pleasure to have you all as our guests and we look forward to the next time.Like the hat ! Best wishes again from all of us in Chiang Mai

"Beautiful house, great hosts and nice location"
After a long drive from the Laos border my wife and I were greeted by the warm smiles from Mr Weng and his team. They quickly made us feel at home and pampered us for the rest of the week with their great Thai cuisine. The beautiful house and grounds are kept meticulously; everything is very clean, spacious and comfortable. The location allows for nice day trips and a glimpse of Thailand away from the main touristy areas but close enough if you do want to visit the attractions. The pictures do not do justice to the size of the house. The bedrooms are all oversized with large en-suite bathrooms and beautiful tropical wooden floors, doors and windows. The living/dining has huge sliding doors that open onto a large covered terrace (shade!) with great panoramic tropical garden and mountain views. We used the terrace extensively for our meals, relaxation and to get some work done on our laptops, while enjoying a light mountain breeze and a tasting of all the locally grown fruits and vegetables. Everyday Mr Weng would surprise us with new local dishes. Mr. Hunt dropped by to check if everything was to our liking and gave us some tips for hikes and places to visit in the surroundings. Many thanks to everyone for their unequalled hospitality!
Dear Rob and Mathilde We all send our thanks for your great review and it was an absolute delight to have you both stay on the reserve. We very much look forward to your return. Jan Gino Noel Wheng and all the "crew"
