Originally an old cart barn the property was expertly and sympathetically converted in 2003. It provides luxury accommodation with every convenience. There are two en suite bedrooms one being on the ground floor, a large beautiful lounge and a well equipped kitchen. There is secure off road parking for 2 cars.

Ideal location for a relaxing break at any time of the year, there are numerous local walks and trails and the Historic Hardwick Hall and its extensive grounds is only a gentle stroll away. Easy access to junction 29 of the M1 makes it very accessible with travel to the Peak District and only 15 minutes and the historic market town of Chesterfield with its world famous Crooked Spire. The cities of Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby are all within driving distance as is Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

All the furniture and fixtures are of a high standard and there is a small reading landing stocked with books, maps and local guides.

Leather Sofa and chairs with Oak dining table grace the lounge with a very expensive Chinese carpet on stained and polished wooden floor.

The loft bedroom (maximum height 6') accessed by a turned staircase, with en-suite has a bath as well as a shower and the ground floor bedroom has a double shower cubicle in its en-suite.There is a large 42 inch HD L.C.D. TV with computer connection and a quality B&O hi-fi system with MP3 connectivity. WI-Fi is available free.

The property shares the drive and parking with Pear Tree Farm House (the owners property) There is dedicated parking and outside security lighting. There is key entry through electric gates for added security and the barn has its own private West facing garden with pergola and garden seating, barbecue and lighting. There are far reaching views from the garden across farmland where horses graze to Chesterfield and the Peak District.

The Village (Rowthorne) is a sleepy hamlet of 12 houses including two working farms. The road is very quiet for most of the day with horse riders, walkers and cyclists passing through the village regularly.

"simply the best"

we stayed for two nights,our hosts bent over backwards to help us during our stay .They supplied us with information where to eat, places to visit,the best way to get to these places.This is defintely a 5 star accomadation.

"Home from Home"

A clean, spacious and comfortable home from home which I found most relaxing after work and at weekends. The amenities were perfect for me (washer/dryer, good kitchen appliances, lovely TV, stable internet connection) allowing me ample space to work and to cook. It was so nice to have plenty of space to spread out. Due to the location it was quiet too. I didn't travel to any places of local interest, but the accommodation is packed with really useful leaflets, books and advice on where to go and what to do for those who have time. A good place for a holiday and a great place as a base if you are working away for any length of time.

Thanks for a great review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. It seems strange that you car is not parked here at nights we'd got quite used to it! If you are ever in the area again don't hesitate to make contact.

"We had a great holiday!!!"

The accommodation was superb, we had a very relaxing time. We particularly liked listening to Jazz music with the doors open and the sun streaming through the windows. We also enjoyed sitting under the rose pergola watching the horses in the field and the sunset. The sleeping arrangements were excellent although the kitchen was a bit small for the more cooking minded. There was a lot to do within a 30 minute drive, especially if you like historical stuff!

Thank you for your review - yes you are right the kitchen is a bit small - it was designed for two people originally - but hopefully you managed. I like sitting under the pergola as well - its a great place to consume a glass or two of something. Hope to see you again soon. Best wishes

"Fantastic Holiday"

Another stay in this wonderful place, felt relaxed and holiday from the minute we arrived, and did plenty more exploring around local villages
All you would expect from the description, and much much more
The owners have thought of everything you might need to know about the area, are usually near by to answer any questions, and to be of help in any situation
This destination is ideal for so many, friends, families, business people etc as it is a home from home and so handy for travel networks too

"Prima verblijf!"

Pear Tree Farm is een heerlijk comfortabel huis en is een prima uitvalsbasis om de omgeving te verkennen (per auto, fiets of lopend). Draadloos netwerk aanwezig en de audio en videoinstallatie was dik in orde, zelfs je ipod kan aangesloten worden! Veel informatie over de omgeving beschikbaar. 's Avonds op het terras genieten van het uitzicht en de rust (event. BBQ aanwezig). Onze fietsen gebruikt voor uitstapjes in de directe omgeving (met versnellingen alles makkelijk fietsbaar).

We were delighted to welcome guests from Holland and we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Hopefully your review will encourage more guests to book from Holland, and we have decided to offer the possibility of using the garage for bike storage to all our guests.

"Friendly Comfort"

We found the accommodation very comfortable and as described on the website. It is conveniently located to many sites of interest and to shopping facilities. It is in a quiet and lovely area, easily accessed from the M1 and other main roads. We were made to feel welcome by Mel, and we appreciated his help when we had a problem with our hire car.

"Beautiful accomodation, generously fitted out"

A lovely barn conversion which photos cannot do justice to (the high ceiling in the barn adds wonderfully). Extremely well fitted out, thoughtful provision of everything required. Well situated for walking, and friendly, helpful owners.

""Perfection" 5 Star at Least, Exactly as Advertised, Cleanliness A1!"

Having stayed in many so called 5 Star rated accomodations in the past, Pear Tree Farm Barn was a welcome change it was as represented "A Five Star". The countryside setting was beautiful, the Barn accomodation was at least 5 Star, with all modern conveniences from the well equipped kitchen, the sparkling bathrooms, the cosy inviting living room with a wood burning fireplace, large screen T.V. and DVD Player (even a supply of DVD's). There were also numerous books and travel guides to the surrounding areas. The welcome basket was a lovely touch, a bottle of wine, bread, eggs, coffee, tea, butter etc. to get you started. All of this and I must stress "Immaculately Clean!" We stayed at Pear Tree Farm Barn for 3 weeks and at the end of our vacation we didn't want to leave!

"Just perfect"

After reading many reviews of Pear Tree Farm we were expecting something special and we certainly weren't disappointed. Little things like umbrellas supplied, but who couldn't be thrilled with the welcome package, it was certainly appreciated after our drive from London arriving rather exhausted to find we didn't have to go out to buy something for breakfast, all supplied, eggs, bread, cereal, butter, jam etc etc.

The barn is beautiful, so comfortable very quiet and was spotlessly clean.

We are really glad you enjoyed your stay at the barn. It's always a pleasure to have guests from overseas. Hopefully it wont be long before you make a return visit to the UK. Best wishes Mel
